Job Description:

The YouTube Creative and Programming team, under Disney Entertainment’s Digital Marketing organization, oversees creative strategy, content development, production, and execution; programming and planning; and day-to-day creative operations for two of Disney Entertainment’s core Adult (NMFK) and Made for Kids (MFK) YouTube channels, Star Wars and Star Wars Kids. Our mission is threefold: (1) tell relevant and engaging stories, (2) create compelling content, and (3) reach consumers where they are through strategic amplification and distribution. 

Reporting into the Sr Manager, Digital Marketing & Creative Strategy, and working closely with the team’s Director, VP, and others, the role of the Manager, Digital Marketing will focus on developing and executing YouTube channel creative content and strategies, with a primary focus on Star Wars and Star Wars Kids.

The creative role requires hands-on production involvement to shepherd YouTube content development through all stages of ideation, production and in support of franchise priorities and timelines. The role will work in concert with the production Project Managers and creative Coordinators to adhere to schedules, budgets, and efficient operations. The role will work in concert with the distribution, strategy, and localization teams to align with channel content planning and programming calendars and manage creative deliveries.

The manager should expect to collaborate with other creative stakeholders who have an interest in the YouTube and Star Wars segment of the business. This role will be expected to proactively understand key priorities and campaigns for Star Wars and Star Wars Kids business segments, aligned with platform and content best practices, and utilize insights to drive and implement strategies.

A core aspect of the role requires the candidate to possess a deep understanding of children’s programming, developmental content needs, and first-class, age-appropriate & relevant storytelling. In addition to deep knowledge of Star Wars and overall digital content creation, the ideal candidate will have a fundamental understanding of compliance and appropriate content designation, broader policies around MFK digital content, and experience in the Made For Kids content sector. Experience as, or working with, content creators, along with best practices in the space—across audience designations—will be heavily valued for the individual stepping into this role.

Responsibilities:

  • Under the direction of the Director and Sr Mgr, spearhead hands-on creative development and production of long and short-form video content (VOD, livestreams, posts and YT Shorts)--as well as community content and engagement--for both MFK and NMFK YouTube channels

  • Understand detailed content strategies, to align production and delivery of final assets in support of franchise priorities and timelines

  • Uphold and adhere to brand guidelines when creating compelling content, ensuring videos are consistently on-brand in voice, style, and tone—while also pushing formats, trends, and opportunities to meet ever-evolving platform and fan tastes

  • Engage and collaborate with 3rd party creative agencies and platform partners to create engaging content and identify new opportunities

  • Develop and produce content that can be distributed internationally and across platforms in support of the brand/franchise strategies and priorities

  • Collaborate with a growing team dedicated to executing the YouTube channel strategies in Corporate, Brand, and Strategy

  • Utilize data to drive insightful recommendations and proactively identify opportunities of growth and A/B testing

  • Have a keen understanding of YouTube as a platform and the focus of Adult targeted and Made for Kids content

  • Follows our Guiding Principles: promote partnership, be creative, be nimble, be ROI focused, lean into disruption, and overall be optimistic

  • Support the planning and execution for the broadcasts of live-streamed events, stunts, and coverage

  • Manage a coordinator team to execute on all strategies, creative production needs, and lead while cultivating talent and understanding

Minimum Qualifications

  • 5+ years relevant experience with content development and production, preferably in digital

  • Experience in long- and short-form content development and production for fiction and non-fiction video

  • Passion for and track record creating high performing, highly creative, & engaging content and storytelling

  • Strong project management, organization, presentation and communication skills

  • Strong understanding of digital platforms and trends, specifically YouTube

  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a matrixed organization

  • Ability to collaborate with a team, as well as roll up effectively to leadership

  • Deep well of knowledge and affinity for the Star Wars brands and characters across media and iterations

  • Efficient with time with the ability to meet deadlines and self-direct time management

  • Proficient in Keynote/PowerPoint, Google Suite, Teams, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Premiere

  • Team player with strong work ethic and ability to be nimble

  • Familiarity, knowledge, and passion for Star Wars, and other Disney Brands a plus

  • AA or BA in Digital Marketing, Marketing, Film, or business admin/relevant degree preferred

The hiring range for this position in Glendale, CA is $105,100 to $140,900 per year and in 7 Hudson Square, NY is $110,100 to $147,600 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
