Kobalt is seeking a People & Culture Business Partner to support our global Music and Shared Services departments. Joining a values-driven People Team, this position will report to the Vice President, People & Culture. This position will be based in our New York office.

Our People Team is a close-knit and highly collaborative group of 13 across London, New York and Los Angeles who are all passionate about creating an inclusive and supportive work environment for employees to reach their full potential.

WHAT DOES A PEOPLE & CULTURE BUSINESS PARTNER AT KOBALT DO?

Business Partner Support:

  • Act as a strategic HR Business Partner, understanding the goals and objectives of assigned business units.
  • Provide guidance and support to managers and employees on policies, procedures, and best practices.
  • Collaborate with business leaders to identify and address employee-related issues.
  • Participate in organizational initiatives, workforce planning, and talent management.
  • Assist in performance management processes, including coaching managers on feedback and performance improvement plans.
  • Collaborate with hiring managers to understand staffing needs and create job descriptions.
  • Partner with the Music and Shared Services leadership team on people & culture and change management initiatives such as performance management, objective setting, DEI, and employee engagement.
  • Manage and resolve all employee relation cases.
  • Partner with People Team management to create a learning and development strategy.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with employees and managers.
  • Serve as a point of contact for all HR-related inquiries.

Employee Onboarding:

  • Facilitate smooth onboarding processes for new hires, ensuring a positive and engaging experience.
  • Conduct orientation sessions to introduce new employees to company culture, policies, and expectations.
  • Coordinate with various departments to ensure new hires have the necessary tools and resources for success.

Compliance and Reporting:

  • Stay updated on employment laws and regulations to ensure compliance in all HR practices.
  • Generate and analyze HR metrics and reports, providing insights to drive decision-making.
  • Ensure proper documentation and record-keeping related to recruitment and employee relations.

WHAT SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE ARE WE LOOKING FOR?  

  • 3-5 Years of experience in Human Resources, preferably in music or entertainment.
  • Senior level stakeholder management.
  • Ability to use metrics/data to advise and influence decision making.
  • Strong handling of managing complex ER cases.
  • Broad generalist understanding and exposure to the following would be advantageous: 
    • Managing annual salary reviews
    • Actioning employee survey results
    • Creating and delivering workshops
    • Succession planning
    • Financial resource forecasting/management C
    • Change management.

  • Business savvy and analytical.
  • Can manage a heavy workload in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication with first-class relationship building skills.
  • A self-starter who has a problem-solving mindset with a flexible and proactive attitude.
  • Curious with a can-do attitude and sense of urgency.
  • SHRM Certification is a PLUS.
