At Citrin Cooperman, we offer competitive compensation and benefits and most importantly, the flexibility to manage your personal and professional life to focus on what matters most to you!
We are looking for a Senior/Lead Software Engineer to join our technology team in a remote role, supporting the firm's Audit & Assurance practice. This is a senior individual-contributor position for an engineer who owns hard problems end to end: shipping production software, integrating systems that were never designed to work together, and building the AI and agentic capabilities that are changing how our A&A teams deliver. As the technical anchor for our most complex builds, you will set the engineering standard for a growing forward-deployed team and bring critical build capability in-house. Our internal engineering function is early in its journey, so you will help build it from the ground up, shaping the practices, architecture, and standards that are still being written, with an outsized hand in defining them.
Responsibilities:
- Own complex, cross-system software solutions end to end, from architecture through production and ongoing support.
- Design and ship AI and agentic solutions (LLM-based automation, retrieval, and workflow orchestration) that meet production, security, and governance standards.
- Set the technical bar for the team: architecture patterns, code quality, testing, CI/CD, and documentation.
- Partner with functional and product owners to turn business problems into durable solutions, not one-off fixes.
- Ensure every build meets the firm's data integrity, enterprise architecture, security, privacy, and regulatory standards.
- Operate hands-on across the full stack, moving between deep problem-solving, architecture, and stakeholder translation as the work requires.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field, or equivalent hands-on experience.
- 7+ years building and shipping production software, with a track record of owning complex systems end to end.
- Deep hands-on engineering with a modern stack (JavaScript/TypeScript, C#, Next.js, Python, or similar), plus fluency in SQL.
- Proven experience designing and integrating across disparate systems and APIs
- Hands-on experience deploying on cloud platforms such as Google Cloud, Azure, AWS, and similar.
- Hands-on experience building AI or agentic solutions in production (LLM integration, retrieval, orchestration, or automation) with the judgment to do it safely at enterprise scale.
- Hands-on experience working with LLMs via API (OpenAI, Google Gemini, Anthropic, and similar), including prompt design, tool/function calling, and managing cost, latency, and reliability tradeoffs.
- Experience with, and a point of view on, modern AI-assisted development using tools like Cursor, Claude Code, and similar, and how to apply them to move faster without sacrificing quality.
- Strong software engineering fundamentals: version control, CI/CD, testing, and secure development practices.
- Comfortable operating in a complex, matrixed, and governed environment.
- Able to communicate a clear technical direction and a practical execution plan.
- Results-oriented, comfortable with ambiguity, and adaptable to an evolving business landscape.
- Energized by early-stage, build-from-the-ground-up environments where the playbook is still being written and structure has to be created, not just followed.
- Automation-obsessed: you treat repetitive, manual work as a defect to be engineered away and default to building leverage over doing things by hand.
- PE-backed or professional services experience preferred.
