The Strategy & Initiatives team is on the front lines, ensuring that Sony Music has the edge on music market trends, is developing impactful forward-looking strategies, and effectively communicating our strategy to the market and key stakeholders.

The Manager, Strategy & Initiatives position will work with teams in Sony Music’s Corporate and Global Digital Business groups in developing and communicating the company’s strategy to deliver the most impact and guide overall strategic direction of the company with respect to its priorities. The role will predominantly focus on analyzing industry trends, participating in strategic projects, and supporting communication of key insights and initiatives to internal and external stakeholders.

What you'll do:
  • Support evaluation of Sony Music's strategic direction by conducting rigorous industry research and analysis, closely monitoring ongoing developments in the music landscape, and contributing to presentations with relevant analyses, synthesis of complex market trends, and actionable recommendations to senior management on a regular basis
  • Develop and create compelling executive-ready presentations, both independently and as part of a team, for the company’s senior management to internal and external stakeholders, including as part of Sony Music’s cyclical strategic planning process and for board meetings, conferences, business review sessions, and other key meetings, as well as generally prepare executives with research and data for these meetings
  • Track market developments and review research reports to identify insights and develop theses on trends impacting the recorded music industry, and work closely with analytics and finance teams to further develop, synthesize, and communicate these insights to ultimately drive decision-making across the business
  • Contribute to the company’s strategic initiatives by supporting special projects, including working cross-functionally across stakeholders, collecting relevant analysis from internal Sony Music teams, developing strategic recommendations and action plans with clear rationale and impacts, and creating materials to effectively communicate project background, hypothesis and relevant data to executives and teams
  • Support strategic evaluations with financial modelling, including market sizing, earnings analysis, and scenario projections
Who you are:
  • Strong strategic thinker with a proven ability to structure complex business problems, synthesize key insights, and drive decision-making.
  • Effective ability to create and deliver compelling and clear presentations, with strong storytelling, data visualization, and executive communication skills.
  • Strong research and analytical skills, with the ability to interpret industry trends and develop forward-looking insights.
  • Exceptional PowerPoint and Excel skills, with deep attention to detail in crafting high-impact analyses and materials.
  • Deeply interested in the future of music, particularly how it intersects with consumer and technology trends.
  • Ability to provide accurate and timely results under tight schedules while managing multiple priorities and effectively communicating and collaborating across teams
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, high-impact environment, with an entrepreneurial mindset and a proactive, solution-oriented approach.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset, who is able to come up with creative inputs, suggestions, and solutions to a variety of business problems
  • 4-year undergraduate degree required
  • 4-6 years of experience in a top-tier management consulting firm or comparable position in a digital media company preferred

The anticipated annual base salary does not include any other compensation components or other benefits that an individual may be eligible for.  The actual base salary offered depends on a variety of factors, which may include as applicable, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job.
