Our success is rooted in our people, our high character reputation and our commitment to creating a diverse and welcoming workplace. We focus on team chemistry, collaboration, strong relationships, valuable networks, and ambitious ideas to deliver innovative solutions that keep our clients and agency ahead of the curve.

Excel Sports Management is an Equal Opportunity Employer (EOE).

Position Summary

We’re seeking a highly strategic and culturally attuned Public Relations Manager to support the media presence of our female clients (WNBA, NIL, Broadcast, Retired) while also generating high-impact opportunities across event, celebrity, and lifestyle spaces for our full talent roster.

As the Public Relations Manager, you will develop and execute PR strategies that elevate the visibility of Excel’s athletes beyond the sports pages, with a heavy focus on our female athletes. You’ll create and pitch storylines, pursue media and non-media opportunities, and generate buzz through both traditional and unexpected avenues—from sports media to fashion, entertainment, consumer, digital content, and events.

You’ll work closely with agents, marketing, social, and brand teams to understand each athlete’s voice, values, and goals and secure opportunities that support overall client goals.

This role is ideal for someone who’s passionate about working with talent, understands the evolving media and cultural landscape, and thrives at the intersection of storytelling, brand building, and public influence.

Essential Duties:

Female Talent Specific

  • Work collaboratively with agents, marketing, and social teams to align public relations strategy with each client’s unique voice, personal brand, and long-term goals.
  • Ideate and execute creative narratives that enhance visibility, celebrate achievements, and position clients as multifaceted public figures.
  • Craft and deliver compelling pitches to national, local, and vertical-specific media across sports, entertainment, lifestyle, fashion, and business.
  • Develop and maintain strong media relationships and act as a key point of contact for press inquiries and opportunities
  • Secure non-traditional publicity opportunities including cultural and/or brand events, red carpets & premiers, fashion shows, panel discussions, etc.
  • Track media coverage and trends, delivering insights and wrap reports that evaluate visibility, resonance, and reach.

Cross-Roster Specific

  • Support larger Talent Communications team by securing opportunities for clients across lifestyle, fashion, wellness, and consumer-facing platforms—magazines, podcasts, digital series, branded content, and influencer partnerships.
  • Support larger Talent Communications team by securing client involvement in major events—film festivals, award shows, fashion weeks, galas, and cultural happenings.

Qualifications

  • 4+ years of PR experience, preferably in talent representation or lifestyle (sports, entertainment, fashion, or consumer brand background preferred).
  • Strong track record of securing top-tier media placements and event opportunities.
  • Deep understanding of pop culture, media cycles, and the evolving role of athletes as cultural influencers.
  • Exceptional writing, pitching, and storytelling skills.
  • Established network of media and industry contacts.
  • Experience working directly with talent and their teams.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, timelines, and personalities with a high degree of professionalism and discretion.
  • Passion for supporting and promoting female talent in sports and beyond.

The pay range for this position is: $80,000 - $90,000 per year. This position is also eligible for benefits and discretionary bonus.

Please note that the foregoing compensation information is a good-faith assessment associated with this position only and is provided pursuant to the New York City Salary Transparency Law.

Ultimately, the salary may vary based upon, but not limited to, relevant experience, time in role, business sector, and geographic location, among other criteria.

This position is not eligible for sponsorship.
