Cox Automotive is currently looking for a Managing Editor to join our team. This is a remote, work-from-home position.
We're redefining automotive journalism - and we need a strategic leader to help drive that change. You'll shape how millions of car shoppers engage with trusted brands like Autotrader and Kelley Blue Book. This is your chance to build the newsroom of the future. This role will be assigned to a specific segment, such as luxury, compact/full-size, entry-level and high-end luxury, or midsize/subcompact vehicles.
This role is built on ownership. You'll own editorial calendars, drive innovation in storytelling formats, and ensure every piece of content is grounded in data and audience insight.
AI is your co-pilot. You'll champion the use of AI tools to enhance speed, accuracy, and creativity - without compromising editorial integrity.
You'll grow our influence. From cultivating sources to expanding our press fleet program, you'll help ensure our expertise remains best-in-class.
This is a leadership role. You'll model resilience, curiosity, and adaptability-guiding your team through change and growth in a dynamic, digital-first newsroom.

Who You Are
Minimum:
  • Bachelor's degree in related discipline and 6 years of relevant experience with at least 1 year of experience in people management role. The right candidate could also have a different combination, such as a master's degree and 4 years' experience; a Ph.D. and 1 year of experience; or 10 years' experience in a related field.
  • Proven success leading editorial teams through change.
  • Advanced storytelling, editing, and multimedia skills.
  • Strong Proficiency with AI tools, digital platforms, and publishing technology.
  • Clear communicator with a bias for action.
  • Curiosity, adaptability, and a growth mindset.
  • Skilled in analytical thinking, business acumen, customer focus, effective presentations, and project administration and management.
  • Skilled at building positive relationships, driving innovation, focusing on execution, guiding team success, and leading with vision.
  • Travel: 15% (travel could be for 2-3 days and include overnights)

USD 101,500.00 - 169,100.00 per year
Compensation:
Compensation includes a base salary in the range of $101,500.00 - $169,100.00. The base salary may vary within the anticipated base pay range based on factors such as the ultimate location of the position and the selected candidate's knowledge, skills, and abilities. Position may be eligible for additional compensation that may include an incentive program.
Benefits:
The Company offers eligible employees the flexibility to take as much vacation with pay as they deem consistent with their duties, the company's needs, and its obligations; seven paid holidays throughout the calendar year; and up to 160 hours of paid wellness annually for their own wellness or that of family members. Employees are also eligible for additional paid time off in the form of bereavement leave, time off to vote, jury duty leave, volunteer time off, military leave, and parental leave.
