Job Description

OBJECTIVES / PURPOSE

  • Own the local customer engagement strategy for assigned brand(s), translating Takeda's global brand strategy, customer insights and modular content into impactful local engagement plans.

  • Design and optimize customer journeys, orchestrating omnichannel engagement across personal and non-personal channels while maximizing customer impact and return on investment.

  • Generate and communicate actionable market, customer and performance insights to Marketing & Customer Excellence (MCE) to inform future brand strategy, content development and engagement approaches.

  • Drive sustainable brand growth, market competitiveness and financial performance, aligned with Takeda's values of Patient, Trust, Reputation and Business.

SCOPE

  • Financial: Accountability for local engagement investments and associated budget(s), including optimization of resource allocation and ROI.

  • Leadership / People: Individual contributor operating through matrix leadership and influencing cross-functional teams without direct line management responsibility.

ACCOUNTABILITIES

Customer Insights & Market Understanding

  • Conduct local situational analyses to understand customer needs, barriers, decision drivers, behaviors and competitive dynamics.

  • Maintain close proximity to customers and the market to identify trends, unmet needs and engagement opportunities.

  • Act as a key local voice, ensuring market realities and customer perspectives shape future MCE strategies and content development.

Local Customer Engagement Strategy

  • Own and lead the development of the Local Engagement Plan as the primary strategic deliverable.

  • Define target audiences, customer segments, engagement objectives, channel strategy, content requirements, budget allocation, performance measures and learning agenda.

  • Secure cross-functional alignment and commitment to execution.

Customer Journey & Omnichannel Engagement

  • Design, implement and continuously optimize local customer journeys across all customer touchpoints.

  • Define engagement objectives, key messages and channel strategies across:

    • Face-to-face 1:1 interactions (Sales / KAM)

    • Face-to-face group interactions (meetings, congresses, events, advisory boards)

    • Digital and non-personal channels

  • Ensure a seamless and coordinated customer experience across all engagement channels.

Field Force Enablement

  • Equip field and KAM teams with approved brand narratives, messaging and customer engagement guidance.

  • Deliver training and support to strengthen consistent message delivery.

  • Collaborate closely with Sales Leadership, who retain accountability for field force coaching, management and execution.

Cross-Functional Leadership

  • Lead and coordinate local cross-functional engagement teams involving Commercial, Medical and Market Access stakeholders.

  • Drive alignment, accountability and execution excellence through matrix leadership.

  • Coordinate engagement activities while ensuring full compliance with policies, SOPs and governance requirements.

Content Localization & Reuse

  • Champion a reuse-first mindset by leveraging global modular content as the foundation for local engagement.

  • Identify and manage local adaptation needs while ensuring compliance with approved claims and business rules.

  • Partner with MCE Campaign Design Leads to provide clear requirements for content optimization and localization.

  • Support efficient and compliant MLR processes.

Data, Analytics & AI

  • Analyze omnichannel performance data and customer engagement metrics to identify improvement opportunities.

  • Leverage CRM systems, next-best-action capabilities, decision engines and AI-enabled tools to improve targeting, personalization and engagement effectiveness.

  • Promote data-driven decision-making across planning and execution.

Budget & Resource Management

  • Own local engagement investments, including meetings, congresses and customer engagement activities.

  • Allocate resources based on strategic priorities, customer impact and return on investment.

  • Continuously evaluate performance and optimize investments to maximize outcomes.

Execution & Continuous Improvement

  • Partner with the MCE Campaign Activation Lead to ensure efficient deployment of local engagement initiatives.

  • Deliver execution-ready plans including success metrics, timelines, responsibilities, approvals and readiness criteria.

  • Translate engagement performance data and customer insights into actionable optimization plans.

  • Identify content gaps, engagement opportunities and best practices.

  • Provide structured feedback and recommendations to MCE to strengthen future strategies, campaigns and content development.

Excellence & Capability Adoption

  • Consistently apply Marketing Excellence and Commercial Capabilities frameworks, methodologies and best practices.

  • Support adoption of omnichannel engagement standards and continuous capability development across the organization.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

  • Bachelor's degree in Life Sciences, Marketing, Business or a related field.

  • Advanced degree (MBA, MSc or equivalent) is an advantage.

  • Significant experience in pharmaceutical, biotech or healthcare marketing, customer engagement and/or omnichannel activation.

  • Demonstrated experience translating global strategies into successful local execution.

  • Strong experience leading cross-functional initiatives within a matrix environment.

  • Experience managing engagement investments, event budgets and compliant promotional activities.

  • Expertise in omnichannel engagement, customer journey design and customer experience optimization.

  • Strong understanding of pharmaceutical compliance requirements, modular content approaches and MLR processes.

  • High level of analytical, digital and AI fluency.

  • Excellent communication, influencing and stakeholder management skills.

  • Experience operating in agile, test-and-learn environments.

This role must be performed in full compliance with all applicable laws, regulations and industry codes, including EFPIA and relevant national pharmaceutical industry codes, as well as Takeda's policies, SOPs and ethical standards.
