ABOUT THE TEAM AND ROLE

theSkimm makes it easier to live smarter. We started as two friends on a couch and have since purchased more couches and gotten new friends, er... employees. The sales and marketing teams at theSkimm are made up of experienced, resourceful, creative, scrappy hustlers. We pull out all of the stops to get sh*t done. We’re seeking an energetic, rockstar marketer who is ready to jump in, think outside of the box, and get creative building marketing campaigns for brands. theSkimm is for high performers who thrive off of seeing direct impact and response to their work.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING

You're a storyteller. You understand the brand story of theSkimm. You're in charge of creating and developing inventory to help other brands tell their story to theSkimm's audience. You will create native marketing campaigns to deliver on brands' KPIs and add value to Skimm consumers. The nuts and bolts of the role include:

  • Conceptualizing and developing revenue-generating marketing programs, including multi-platform ideas that include native content, video, audio, and 360 partnerships
  • Crafting creative campaigns for brands and in response to RFPs 
  • Creating and developing proposal decks, marketing materials, and post campaign recaps
  • Collaborating with multiple internal teams, including Analytics, Tech, Product & Editorial
  • Meeting with brands and clients as needed to present proposals and/or discuss ongoing and future opportunities
  • Working with the sales and marketing teams to investigate, evaluate, and pitch new partnership opportunities 
  • Leading internal brainstorms that take campaigns to the next level
WHAT WILL SET YOU UP FOR SUCCESS
  • 4-6 years of marketing experience
  • Previous design and/or copywriting experience 
  • Experience with 360-degree multi-platform marketing programs
  • Have experience building integrated marketing campaigns for brands
  • Familiarity and enthusiasm for theSkimm, our products, and the utility we offer
  • Have exceptional attention to detail while still working under tight deadlines
  • Collaborative and team oriented approach
  • A self-starter, with the ability to handle stressful situations and think creatively
WHAT WOULD SET YOU APART
  • Experience working alongside tech, sales, and design teams. Ability to communicate in their shorthand
  • Have experience working directly with brands and building campaigns tailored to reach specific KPIs
  • Experience with digital, mobile, social media marketing
  • Knowledge of agency environment
  • Willingness to thrive in a start-up organization, highly motivated, entrepreneurial, and energetic
