ABOUT THE TEAM AND ROLE

theSkimm marketing team is a small group of fast-moving, data-driven and creative thinkers who nurture and grow theSkimm brand and community, while driving audience growth and engagement across all platforms. The Senior Associate of Brand & Events is focused on elevating our brand and fueling growth through brand campaigns, as well as both brand owned & sponsored events.

The Senior Associate, Brand & Events will report to the Senior Manager of Brand & Events. In 2021, we’re gearing up to continue making an impact for millenial women and enabling them to live their smartest lives. We need a partner who will be responsible for supporting the development and implementation across campaigns, events, mission moments, and strategic initiatives.  The ideal candidate will be equal parts strategic and creative, have industry intel and enthusiasm, be proactive and meticulously organized, and be willing to roll up their sleeves to get things done. We’re on track to hold virtual events this year, and look forward to getting back into live events when possible. 

The Senior Associate will serve as a collaborator and partner to the Marketing team, as well as teams across theSkimm including Communications, Content, Sales, Business Development, Design, Strategy, Data, Product and more. 

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING

  • Organize and aid in executing campaigns, brand moments, virtual, hybrid, and/or in-person summits, workshops, courses, and meetings
  • Research and evaluate new event opportunities based on theSkimm’s business objectives and marketing goals
  • Participate in brainstorm and development of concepts for best-in-class experiences and campaigns 
  • Partner across the marketing, brand, social, and community teams to project manage campaign and event execution on behalf of the marketing team 
  • Craft strategic messaging, value propositions and collaborate on event assets based on target audience and business goals marrying thoughtful insights and event or campaign intent
  • Serve as production lead with all vendors including platform, video, venue, catering, internal creative team, décor, fabricators, audio, lighting, photographer, and staffing
  • Conduct all site visits and key client meetings
  • Work with our internal talent, PR and social teams in securing talent and fulfilling riders if needed
  • Be responsible for creating and maintaining key campaign and event documents including budget, run of show, work back schedule, contact list
  • Be the on-site production lead for both virtual and live events
  • Oversee/contribute to budget management

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

  • 3+ years of experience of high volume, fast-paced marketing and events experience (virtual experience a plus!)
  • Client/relationship experience
  • A strong eye for design and creative vision
  • Proficiency in Powerpoint, Keynote, Excel, Google Suite (Indesign and photoshop a plus)
  • Experience working with attendee invite management systems & virtual event platforms: Eventbrite, Splash, Zoom, Vimeo, YouTube, etc.
  • Excellent writing and communication skills
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Positive attitude and ability to thrive in high-pressure environment
  • Desire to work hard, learn new skills and grow professionally
  • Ability to travel up to 20% of the time
  • Willingness to work flexible hours as needed
