The MBA Summer Associate will research market factors, develop investment theses, source new opportunities, and support the investment team with ongoing evaluations.
Overview of Squarepoint Ventures
- Squarepoint is looking to add an MBA Summer Associate to their Venture and Growth investing team with a passion for engaging, evaluating, and supporting early-stage startups. This position will be based in New York.
- Our team focuses on evaluating Series A – Series D businesses across the entire enterprise and vertical software, fintech, and commerce ecosystems. Core sub themes can include AI/ML, DevOps, Cybersecurity, Cloud Infra/Networking, Application Software, Consumer Enablement, and Payments.
- This is an opportunity for you to leverage cutting edge resources both internally and externally to collaborate closely with teams globally across the business to improve and scale our venture/growth business.
Overview of the position
- Research market factors and themes to develop investment theses. This research is key to our investment process.
- Source new opportunities leveraging the investment theses as well as Squarepoint's internal data and signals.
- Support our investment team in reviewing ongoing investment opportunities.
Typical Day of an intern in the Squarepoint Ventures team
- Primary focus throughout the day is on conducting market research aggregating information from various sources including Squarepoint internal data, expert network and broker research.
Qualifications
- Experience in researching and analyzing technology, ideally through prior internship experience or in a related position.
- Must be currently enrolled as a 1st or 2nd year in a MBA program.
- Excellent quantitative and qualitative analytical skills.
- Prior VC investing experience not required, but a plus.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work well with colleagues across multiple teams.
The minimum base salary for this role is $150,000 if located in New York. This expectation is based on available information at the time of posting. This role may be eligible for discretionary bonuses, which could constitute a significant portion of total compensation. This role may also be eligible for benefits, such as health, dental, and other wellness plans, as well as 401(k) contributions. Successful candidates’ compensation and benefits will be determined in consideration of various factors.
