Responsibilities & Qualifications

Novelis Oswego has an exciting opportunity to participate in our on-site summer internship. The team is seeking a Mechanical Engineer intern that can join the team for approximately 10 to 12 weeks. The person in this role will have the opportunity to participate in meaningful work and gain hands on industry experience. The person in this role will report to the Associate EMRA Leader and will be gaining experience with Mechanical Engineering.

Responsibilities

  • Learn about industrial machinery, mechanical power transmission, and hydraulic/pneumatic systems.
  • Provide support for various Mechanical or Reliability Engineering Projects.
  • Develop and modify engineering drawings and models using CAD software.
  • Participate in problem solving activities including breakdown repairs and root cause analysis. Work under the supervision of staff engineers to implement latest reliability and maintenance standards to equipment.

Qualifications

  • Enrolled in an accredited 4-year University
  • Must obtain the classification Junior or Senior.
  • Interested in gaining hands-on industry experience prior to graduation
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills which are essential for interacting with all levels of the organization
  • Familiar with MS Office and AutoCAD products.
  • Must be currently authorized to work in the United States for any employer

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prefer students majoring in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
  • Works well in a team-based environment.
  • Familiarity with precision measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, and dial indicators.

For this role, the pay is from $25.00 USD / hour. Individual pay will vary based on qualifications, experience, and performance.
