About Tuesday

Tuesday Lab builds delightful robots. We are driven by a desire to make everyday life easier and more fun through cutting-edge robotics. If you love taking things apart to see how they work, watch videos of robots doing tricks, and take inspiration from sci-fi rather than real life, you should come work at the Lab.

We are engineers, researchers, and builders who love living among our creations. Our mission is to make the magical world of animated objects accessible to everyone.

Responsibilities:

  • Design, build, and maintain test fixtures and validation rigs for robot prototypes.

  • Conduct extensive testing and validation of the robot and its various subsystems (e.g., actuators, sensors, kinematics, power systems).

  • Develop and execute detailed test plans, analyze results, and document findings to inform design iterations.

  • Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams (Hardware, Software, Product) to validate system parameters and ensure all necessary requirements are met.

  • Rapidly prototype and iterate on mechanical and electrical designs to improve test performance and reliability.

  • Assist in the characterization of system performance under various operating conditions.

Required Qualifications:

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in a related technical field, such as Mechatronics, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Robotics.

  • Hands-on experience with prototyping, assembly, and testing of electromechanical systems.

  • Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Fusion 360) and the ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.

  • Familiarity with basic data acquisition and analysis tools (e.g., Python, MATLAB, or similar).

  • Experience with instrumentation (e.g., multimeters, oscilloscopes, load cells) and setting up test environments.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Nice-to-haves:

  • Prior internship experience in robotics, hardware testing, or product validation.

  • Familiarity with standard industry testing procedures (e.g., environmental testing, reliability testing).

  • Experience with PCB design, embedded systems, or basic programming for microcontrollers (e.g., Jetson, Arduino, Raspberry Pi).

  • Working knowledge of robot kinematics and controls.

About You:

This role is ideal for a highly curious and detail-oriented individual who loves to get their hands dirty. A successful intern will be:

  • Technically excellent: You love mechatronics and you express that love by building constantly.

  • Proactive: You have a strong bias towards action – you know that you learn most by doing. You take initiative to find solutions and resources without constant supervision.

  • Resourceful: You draw on all sources available to you – LLMs, StackOverflow, Reddit, your classmates, mentors – to solve problems in front of you. When you run into a problem, you know that you might not know the answer, but that you can find the answer.

  • Highly organized: You can manage multiple testing protocols simultaneously, track data meticulously, and maintain a clean and effective test environment.

  • A clear communicator: You can effectively articulate technical issues and ask for help when needed.

  • Adaptable: You thrive in a fast-paced prototyping environment where priorities and designs can change rapidly.

  • Hardworking: You love the feeling of doing hard work.

If you don’t have these qualifications, but you really want to do this job, you should apply for it anyway. This is a startup–passion and work ethic count for a lot.

What Tuesday Offers:

  • The opportunity to play a critical role in developing the future of home robotics. Your successful data collection effort will make the difference between a delightful companion and a dysfunctional boondoggle.

  • Work alongside smart, collaborative experts who love playful applications and are excited about building the future.
