Advance Media New York (Syracuse.com | The Post-Standard) is looking for a well-rounded and motivated multimedia journalist with a passion for storytelling, a go-getter attitude and sound news judgement to join an award-winning team at Central New York’s largest and most trusted news organization.

 

The ideal candidate is a photojournalist with proven photo, video and audio experience who also has reporting chops. Photo and video assignments will include news, features, portraits, sports and weather in addition to more involved projects. We’re looking for someone who can conceptualize, shoot, edit and produce their own video and efficiently turn around packages. Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment is a must.

The base salary range is $55,000 to $65,000 per year. 

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, media, or a related field, and 2-3 years of relevant work experience;
  • Photojournalism experience in photography, shooting and editing video, capturing audio;
  • Ability to work under deadline pressure and prioritize tasks appropriately;
  • Competency in writing, spelling, grammar and fact checking;
  • Solid understanding of journalism ethics;
  • Proficiency in photo/video editing software in the Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Premiere), as well as audio editing software;
  • Understanding of video trends and best practices for platforms like Instagram, TikTok, Facebook and YouTube;
  • Experience with podcast recording and production is a plus;
  • Journalists with a Part 107 license and experience flying a drone are encouraged to apply. There also may be an opportunity to become trained to fly if hired.

This job requires reliable transportation. Your normal work hours may include nights and weekends. This is a Syracuse-based, in-office position.
