🏛️ About GovWell

We the people — and the taxpayers — deserve good government. Yet today, interacting with government services is often frustrating and inefficient. GovWell is building the AI operating system transforming how governments serve communities, starting with local agencies.

GovWell replaces legacy software for municipalities and counties, empowering public servants to radically streamline public services and cut internal processing time for permits and licenses by up to 95%.

Founded in 2023, GovWell powers 5,000+ mission-critical processes for agencies in 35+ states serving millions of residents. The company has raised $35M in funding from Insight Partners, Work-Bench, and Bienville Capital, and the team works in person at GovWell HQ in New York City. 🌟 Role overview

GovWell is hiring a Narrative and Content Lead to own the stories we tell and build content that earns attention in a crowded market. You’ll set our editorial agenda and create distinctive content across thought leadership, customer stories, social, original research, and more.

You’ll work closely with the Head of Marketing, founders, and broader marketing team to turn GovWell’s customers, products, data, and perspective on government into content people genuinely want to read and share. From analyzing permitting data across the country to telling the stories of the public servants we work with, you’ll have a unique set of raw materials to build from.

This role offers significant ownership over GovWell’s content function, from deciding what stories are worth telling to writing, publishing, distributing, and measuring them.

We have a hybrid work culture that combines regular in-person collaboration at our New York City office (3+ days per week) with flexibility to work remotely.

💻 What you’ll do
  • Own GovWell’s editorial calendar and publishing cadence across blog, social, email, and other channels, including how content is distributed and optimized for SEO and AI discoverability

  • Write and publish compelling content across formats, including thought leadership, original data reports, gated guides, product stories, and analysis of trends shaping government

  • Own GovWell’s social presence and ghostwrite for our founders, developing distinct voices and a consistent publishing rhythm that builds our audience

  • Build our customer story engine by sourcing, producing, and publishing case studies and customer videos in partnership with Sales and Deployment

  • Set a high editorial bar and continuously experiment with new formats, stories, and creative bets that help GovWell stand out and earn attention

🧠 Who you are
  • 1–3+ years in content marketing, journalism, editorial, or a related role with a portfolio of published work you personally wrote

  • Exceptional writer and storyteller who can turn technical, bureaucratic, or complex topics into clear, compelling stories with a distinct point of view

  • Creative and highly curious, with strong taste and an instinct for finding stories people actually want to read

  • End-to-end publisher who can take an idea from research and writing through distribution, SEO, and performance analysis

  • Comfortable owning social channels and ghostwriting for executives, with an ability to adapt voice and format to different audiences

  • Revenue-minded, with an understanding of how content can generate pipeline, influence deals, strengthen brand, and engage existing customers

  • AI-forward, using AI to accelerate research and execution without sacrificing originality, judgment, or quality

  • Strong alignment with our Core Values.

💸 Compensation and benefits
  • Compensation within the posted salary band will be commensurate with experience. All offers will include:

    • Competitive base salary + bonus.

    • Equity / stock options.

    • Medical, dental, and vision insurance.

    • 401(k) program.

    • Flexible PTO.
