The Team You Will Join
This intern will work in the Midwest Customer Unit, in Aurora Il, working as part of the National Accounts Underwriting team.
The Opportunity
Our National Accounts team is responsible for strategy, sales, underwriting account managment and overall profitability. The Underwriter will provide group underwriting services for new business and renewals of our A&H Product suite as well as our Identity Theft product for customers over 5,000 eligible employees.
The underwriter is responsible to evaluate risk characteristics inherent in group insurance plans for new business as well as renewals. This person will conduct a detailed analysis to establish profitable and competitive rates and plan characteristics given the unique circumstances and needs of each group customer.
How You'll Help Us Build a Confident Future (Key Responsibilities)
Analyzes risk by running manual rate calculations and or preparing experience-rated quotes; works with the sales team and other partners to ensure the final proposal will meet the needs of the customer.
Underwrites new business quotes of requirements by looking at the plan design, demographics and experience information to decide whether to accept the risk and establish profitable and competitive premium levels.
Prices and offers plan changes, produces experience analysis, and responds to inquiries from the sales team, broker, customer and other partners.
What You Need to Succeed (Required Qualifications)

  • Excellent communicaton skills (verbal, written, listening)
  • Excellent analytical skills and problem solving capabilities.
  • Ability to work under pressure to meet tight deadlines.
  • Ability to adapt and change.
