The Network Administrator manages LAN/WAN configurations, troubleshoots issues, maintains operational plans, performs upgrades, monitors performance, and provides user support.
Job Summary & Responsibilities Preferred Qualifications
The Network Administrator will be responsible for the setup, configuration, and support the internal and/or external LAN/WAN/MAN/CAN network configurations. Troubleshoots network performance issues internally or externally with the Vendors/Carriers. Maintains the ISD departments BCP and DR plans for network operations. Recommends upgrades, patches, and new applications/equipment. Provides technical support / guidance to end users.
Responsibilites, include but not limited to:
- Configure and install various network devices and services (i.e., routers, switches, firewalls, VPN, QOS, load balancers, SNMP, IPAM, etc.).
- Perform network maintenance and system upgrades including service packs, patches, hot fixes, and security configurations.
- Monitor performance and ensure system availability and reliability uptime is up to 100%. Monitor system resource utilization, trending, and capacity planning.
- Provide level 1 (phone support) and level 2 (Deskside support) and troubleshooting issues with carriers, vendors, and end users.
- Work with established configuration and change management policies to ensure awareness, approval, and success of changes made to the networks infrastructure.
- Document Network operating procedures and Data Communications equipment configurations.
- Maintain inventory of Data Communications equipment. Report service disruptions to Telco and works with Telco to restore service.
- Interface with Data Communications Equipment providers to properly configure the equipment and correct equipment malfunctions.
- Provide input to the design, development, and implementation of operational activities relating to networks.
- Maintain day-to-day logs of service disruptions.
Required Skills:
- Knowledge of Layer 2 switching and Layer 3 routing protocols including BGP, etc.
- Experiences with Enterprise Cisco routers, switches, VOIP, VPN, wireless technologies, QOS, and firewalls.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated strength in statistical/analytical tools for system monitoring.
Required Experience:
- High School diploma or GED and a minimum of 3 years of related experience in data network configuration and troubleshooting in a professional data center environment.
- Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) Routing and Switching
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, MIS or related field preferred.
