Job Description

About the role

The Associate Director, Network Strategy Management, helps shape and execute strategy for Takeda’s global manufacturing network. The role is based in Zurich or Boston, has a global scope, and reports to the Head of GSQ Strategy. It has no direct reports but requires broad influence across GSQ, Global Manufacturing, Operating Units, and Global Functions.

You will own and continuously improve the infrastructure that supports network strategy, including long-range capacity-planning models, cost-to-serve methodologies, strategic data, and decision-support tools. The role also leads complex studies across regions and product portfolios, bringing together business, financial, and operational scenarios to inform decisions about capacity, investment, and the future design of the supply network.

How you will contribute:
  • Lead or own workstreams in strategic network studies and scenario planning, collaborating closely with Network Strategy Leads.
  • Develop robust analyses and recommendations that connect strategic objectives with financial, manufacturing, and supply considerations.
  • Build adoption of common network-modelling methods and tools across regions and product portfolios.
  • Establish and govern standards, methodologies, data practices, and performance measures for network modelling and capacity assessment.
  • Chair governance reviews, clarify decision rights and escalation routes, and guide decisions about models, data standards, automation, and AI use.
  • Set the roadmap and operating model for AI-enabled network modelling, working with Digital and Data teams to deliver scalable decision-support capabilities.
  • Advise senior leaders, challenge assumptions, help resolve competing priorities, and build alignment around decisions with broad business impact.
  • Anticipate business and technical challenges, develop risk assessments, and turn complex scenarios into clear, actionable recommendations.
  • Promote innovation, advanced analytics, digitalization, and data-driven decision-making across Network Strategy.

What you bring to Takeda:
  • A bachelor’s degree in engineering, biological sciences, or pharmacy.
  • At least 8 years of experience in the pharmaceutical, biopharmaceutical, or a related industry, including responsibility for financial analysis.
  • Strong planning skills and experience working with cross-functional teams at a manufacturing site or in a corporate support function.
  • The ability to collaborate across Commercial, R&D, Product Operations, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Site Production Planning, and Engineering.
  • Familiarity with relevant biopharmaceutical technologies and awareness of developing manufacturing technologies and their applications in supply networks.
  • The ability to develop complex models, analyse multiple scenarios, assess risks, and communicate findings clearly to senior management.
  • Strong influencing, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with the confidence to advise leaders and work through competing business needs.

Experience developing strategic and financial analyses and working with global supply chain and manufacturing teams at both corporate and site levels, is desirable.
