Job Summary

As the Operations Manager, New York at Wheely, you will be a founding member of Wheely’s New York launch team and play a key role in bringing the service to market.

Working closely with the General Manager, you will own day-to-day operational execution with a focus on acquiring, retaining, and ensuring quality among our best-in-class chauffeurs. You will help establish the local operating model, adapt global standards to the New York market, and ensure a consistently high-quality experience from launch.

This role requires an entrepreneurial mindset and strong execution. You will take initiative, make data-informed decisions, and operate effectively in a fast-moving environment. You will partner with both global and local teams, while building and scaling the local operations team, processes, and operating rhythms as the market scales.

Responsibilities
  • Own day-to-day operational execution for the market, including chauffeur supply growth, onboarding and training, retention, and incentives
  • Establish and evolve the local operating model, translating global strategy and standards into effective local execution
  • Use data to identify operational risks and opportunities, and design initiatives with clear, measurable impact
  • Lead Wheely NYC’s growing operations team, creating a culture of high performance and engagement
  • Partner with product teams to influence feature development and improve operational tooling
  • Oversee operational readiness for launch and early growth, ensuring consistent service quality and reliability
  • Serve as a senior point of contact for chauffeurs and key external stakeholders, representing Wheely’s standards and values
  • Ensure compliance with applicable local regulations and licensing requirements
Requirements

There is no single background that defines success in this role. We are looking for analytically strong, entrepreneurial operators who are motivated by ownership and comfortable being accountable for outcomes in complex, open-ended operating environments.

Strong candidates typically bring 3+ years of experience building, launching, or scaling something meaningful with limited structure, and the ability to move quickly from analysis to execution.

Relevant experience may include:

  • Launching, growing, or scaling operations in a fast-paced tech environment (VC-backed business, scale-up or other relevant startup experience)
  • Background in top-tier management consulting, with a demonstrated transition into hands-on operational roles.
  • Early employee or founding team experience at a consumer or marketplace startup.

Bonus points for:

  • Experience in a marketplace or platform business, particularly in on-demand, mobility, or location-based services
  • Demonstrated experience building teams, processes, or operating models from the ground up or during periods of rapid expansion.
  • MBA or other advanced degree with a strong focus on business, operations, analytics, or strategy.
What we Offer
  • Base salary of $140,000 - $180,000 per year, plus equity in a high growth startup
  • Comprehensive benefits package, including health coverage and other benefits designed to support your wellbeing
  • Monthly credit for journeys with Wheely, allowing you to experience our service as a passenger and stay closely connected to the product

All of your personal information will be collected stored and processed in accordance with Wheely’s Candidate Privacy Notice
