Job Summary & Responsibilities

Position: Recycling; Operations Supervisor

Position Reports to: Recycling Operation Manager/and Regional VP.

Location: Staten Island, NY

Hours: Days with flexible nights

FLSA: Salaried, Exempt

Salary Range: 75k - 90k per year plus incentive pay


Pratt Industries USA, the world's largest, privately-owned paper and packaging company in the USA, which is 100% post consumer recycled, has a position available in their Staten Island, New York facility for a hands-on Operations Supervisor for our Recycling Division.

The ideal candidate must be proficient in working in a fast-paced environment. They will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the Sort-line and transfer of material within a mill/recycling complex. All compliance reporting and maintenance record keeping. Periodically required to perform temporary coverage for Recycling Management and Operations Positions.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must have minimum Associates College Degree or equivalent.
  • Must have a minimum of 2 years of recycling industry experience.
  • Must have excellent communication and reporting skills
  • Previous supervisory skills
  • Must be able to workdays and flexible nights.

Preference will be given to applicants that’s offer the following:

  • Operators experience, (Ex. forklift, crane, payloader, roll-off) and mobile equipment license a plus. Equipment maintenance experiences also a plus. 

REASONING ABILITY:

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or graphic form. Ability to deal with problems involving one or more concrete variables in standardized situations.

REGISTRATIONS:

  • May be required to maintain a current Lift Truck Operator License and/or other appropriate certification to work in certain areas or on certain equipment.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee is occasionally required to sit. The employee may occasionally be required to lift and/or move up to 20 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
