Overview

Co-reporting to the Senior Manager of Rights & Clearances and the VP of Information Systems, the Digital Asset Management Clearance Manager will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy of rights & clearances (R&C) metadata in VICE’s global digital asset management system. Working closely VICE’s R&C department, editorial and production teams, and the information systems department, they will be responsible for ensuring the system is constantly up to date with finalized assets ready for distribution. This is an independent contractor position with potential movement to a staff role.

 This person should have expertise in rights management in a global media environment, and be able to translate contract/license language to concise R&C metadata fields. This person will also partner with VICE’s informations systems team on testing and refining system workflows. When necessary, this role will support asset migration from existing storage locations by cleaning and mapping assets at point of ingestion and conducting quality control checks after migration.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate acquisition of VICE’s owned and licensed materials via the Digital Asset Management system (DAM) by working with editorial, production, and operations/marketing staff to manage incoming imagery
  • Catalog incoming finished assets and enrich metadata with R&C information according to VICE standards
  • Review reporting on all assets and verify accuracy of R&C metadata
  • Remove/update copyrighted materials upon expiration/when removal is needed
  • Act as the primary liaison both internally and externally for queries relating to asset rights and availability in the DAM

 The Person

Qualification and Experience

The ideal candidate will have experience with R&C processes and have a demonstrated record of success in managing a large catalog of material. The individual will be comfortable working in a rapid-paced environment and provide a high level of service to staff. Specifically, our best candidate will have:

  • Experience with licensing, rights, and clearances (in and out)
  • Ability to read/interpret licenses and contracts and translate into metadata
  • Experience managing large, well-organized, network storage drives
  • Experience with Adobe Experience Manager a plus
  • Ability to upload and quality check media and metadata records at high volumes
  • Knowledge of standard metadata formats
