Motivate is looking for a Director of Procurement, who will be responsible for the direction and execution of all purchasing requirements that support corporate and system undertakings. They will develop and lead a team of buyers and logistics professionals to efficiently execute Motivate's service, and inventory goals, as well as, the development of best-in-class processes to drive service level improvement.

About You

Responsibilities

  • Handle all purchasing and procurement efforts to ensure material flow inventory is at an optimal level and supporting of operational and financial goals
  • Direct efforts to negotiate, contract, and lead performance with key suppliers to ensure that all service, innovation, and quality levels are achieved
  • Lead and develop the Procurement team based on principles of continuous improvement and customer service
  • Promote a work environment that fosters creative thinking, innovation, and rational risk-taking
  • Develop, lead, and report upon key metrics related to Supply Chain
  • Direct international and domestic inter-modal freight, ensuring compliance with international, country, and state regulations, as well as, timely and cost effective shipments
  • Partner and collaborate with Motivate bike share systems to ensure accurate forecasting and inventory planning
  • Work cross functionally across departments in support of company goals and partner needs
  • Direct financial performance through the execution of sourcing strategies that deliver savings and higher value for the business
  • Responsible for aligning and implementing standardized purchasing processes/systems to handle costs and leverage volumes across bike share systems
  • Promote and drive a culture of continuous improvement and development throughout the department
  • Support and lead the implementation of company objectives through strategic, as well as, operative measures and activities in the area of procurement
  • Perform other duties as requested by VP Supply Chain 

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Operations Management, or other relevant area
  • 8+ years of experience in Purchasing in a Manufacturing environment
  • Professional Certifications in Project/Supply Chain/ Procurement/Contract Management a plus
  • Advanced verbal interpersonal skills, including negotiation and influencing.
  • 3+ years experience purchasing and sourcing from international vendors including China
  • Strong financial analysis skills
  • Advanced knowledge of supplier development and sourcing in a manufacturing environment.
  • 4+ years experience as a people manager displaying strong leadership, mentoring and development skills
  • Experience with Six Sigma and Lean Tools
  • Strong knowledge of ERP/MRP and Microsoft Office products; experience with NetSuite preferred
  • Knowledge of Mandarin a plus
  • Travel required up to 25%
