Network Programmer
Defiant Studios was founded in New York City in 2016 by industry veterans with many decades of experience in designing, building and producing AAA games for a global audience. We strive to create incredible gameplay experiences while working with curious and passionate people. Our focus is to explore and expand the boundaries of cooperative multiplayer games through compelling storytelling woven into unique and beautiful worlds. Defiant is currently developing multiple unannounced projects including a groundbreaking original AAA IP for next generation platforms.
As Network Programmer you will work with some of the industry’s most exciting technology and talented individuals. You are expected to have previous experience from developing multiplayer titles on Console and Windows platforms.
Required Qualifications
- Implement an architecture for synchronization of objects on multiple hosts in a networked environment
- Adapt existing technology to support being driven by remote commands, e.g. character animation, physics, destruction events
- Develop and maintain tools for testing and analysis of multiplayer environment
- Work with designers and other programmers to ensure a cohesive and engaging multiplayer experience
- A strong passion for multiplayer games
- A keen sense of fun gameplay
- Familiarity with animation, physics and gameplay code in general
- Experience from working with networking technology and approaches, e.g. client-server, peer-to-peer
- Experience from implementing multiplayer in a released game
- Knowledge of low-level network APIs, e.g. TCP/IP, UDP, sockets
Desired Qualifications
- Experience of the platform specific services and APIs available for online presence, e.g. PSN, Xbox Live, lobbies
- Experience with matchmaking
- Experience with security and anti-hacking approaches and techniques
