Founded in 2019, Flex is an early stage NYC-based FinTech startup that is building the infrastructure to enable flexible bill payments for all Americans, starting with a very common and very large expense: rent. Flex enables its users to pay their rent throughout the month on a schedule that better fits their finances, rather than paying the full amount on the first of each month. This enables renters to better manage their bills and have more available cash throughout the month. Although we're starting with renters, that's just the tip of the iceberg. We are looking for a talented Operations Manager who will be a strategic partner to the Director of Operations at Flex in the Growth and New Markets Team. The Operations Manager will be a key member of a cross-functional team on the front lines of innovation and growth at Flex.

In this role, you will work with various departments (Product, Engineering, Customer Success, Analytics, Risk, etc) to develop, test, build, and implement the operational infrastructure and adaptation for Flex’s strategic pipeline of new initiatives, products, regions, and markets. This team is also responsible for ad-hoc strategic initiatives and helps evolve early-stage ideas into future-growth initiatives in a cross-functional capacity.

Success in this position requires a strong passion to help each of our customers, excellent business acumen, strong communication skills, and a genuine curiosity and innate drive to understand and improve our business. Thinking outside the box both creatively and analytically will play a critical role in how you help us design how we are measuring, displaying, and achieving our desired goals and outcomes. If you are a proactive learner with a can-do attitude, who also loves tackling hard problems through deep analysis, fast action, and amazing teamwork, we want to talk with you!

What You'll Do:

  • Work with a group of cross-functional business stakeholders to conduct preliminary research and feasibility of new products, build the foundation to test and evaluate new products, and define the criteria for a steady state to transition the product internally
  • Oversee all operational aspects of the pre-launch, launch, and hand-off process (e.g., structure, scope, compliance, legal nuances, customer requirements)
  • Be the primary subject-matter-expert of the new product that you’re supporting, including maintaining a strong understanding of the relevant inputs, outputs, structures, and process flows
  • Take the lead in responding to questions, issues, and analysis requests, from both within the Operations team and from other teams, related to your areas of expertise
  • Adapt elements of your responsibilities to support new product launches and internal capability enhancements, while still ensuring the highest reliability, accuracy, and scalability
  • Continuously seek out and evaluate opportunities (for example, integration of new data sources) to improve business outcomes, efficiency, strategy

Who You Are:

  • 4+ years of proven experience in high-performance organizations and demonstrated interest in operations, new verticals, and product management
  • A methodical thinker and effective communicator
  • Deep understanding of developing and improving the user experience through UX design, market research, integrations, process development and continuous improvement, and reporting
  • Experience in project management, operations, and have owned complex projects from start to finish
  • Strong sense of ownership, accountability, initiative, and collaboration, favoring team victories over individual successes
  • Proficiency in spreadsheet applications, such as Microsoft Excel or Google Suite, with a preference for automation
  • Experience with data visualization software (e.g., Looker)
  • Degree or advanced degree in Business, Analytics, Engineering, Economics, Finance, Mathematics, Data Science, Information Systems, Statistics, Accounting, or another relevant area of study
  • Bonus points: Early-stage start-up experience is a plus but not necessary
