Frontend Engineer
Company: Permian Labs, supporting USD.AI
Location: New York City, in-office
Employment Type: Full-time
Level: 1–3 years of experience
Reports to: Head of Operations
USD.AI provides AI infrastructure operators with strategic, non-dilutive financing facilities essential for their scale requirements. The protocol delivers non-recourse loans secured by GPU infrastructure and asset-level cashflows, offering capital providers exposure to liquid, transparent, and tradable credit products secured by income-producing compute assets. For more information, visit https://usd.ai/.
The Team
Our team draws experience from DRW, Deutsche Bank, Rockpoint, Nansen, Balancer, and other leading DeFi and TradFi institutions. We are Series A+ funded by Coinbase Ventures, Framework, Dragonfly, DCG, Nascent, Ethereal, and others. We are growing rapidly and have recently announced strategic partnerships with PayPal, Aravolta, and others.
We have no middle managers and move quickly from idea to execution. You will work directly with founders and senior team members on live deals.
The Role
We are looking for a junior Frontend Engineer to help build the interfaces that power USD.AI — the apps borrowers, depositors, and partners use to interact with the protocol. You will work primarily in TypeScript and React, turning designs and product ideas into polished, reliable, user-facing features. You will sit close to product and backend from day one and own real features early.
This is an in-person role based in our New York City office. It is a strong fit for someone early in their career who writes clean React, cares about UI craft, and wants to grow quickly by shipping alongside senior engineers. Familiarity with web3 frontend tooling is a plus.
Responsibilities
- Build and ship user-facing features across our web apps in TypeScript and React, from design hand-off through to production.
- Translate Figma designs into clean, responsive, and accessible UI, sweating the details on polish, performance, and cross-browser behavior.
- Integrate the frontend with our NestJS/TypeScript backend APIs — wire up data flows, handle loading and error states, and help shape sensible API contracts.
- Contribute reusable, well-tested components to our shared component library and design system.
- Help build wallet-connection and on-chain interaction flows for our web3 surfaces (e.g. with wagmi/viem) — no prior web3 experience required; we will get you up to speed.
- Participate in code reviews and testing, and help keep our frontend codebase and tooling healthy.
- Debug and resolve issues across browsers and devices, keeping an eye on quality and reliability.
Requirements
- 1–3 years of professional experience building web applications with React and TypeScript.
- Solid grasp of modern frontend fundamentals: component architecture, state management, responsive layout, and core browser APIs.
- Comfort consuming REST or similar APIs and collaborating closely with backend engineers.
- A good eye for UI detail and a habit of shipping polished, accessible interfaces from designs (Figma or similar).
- Based in NYC and able to work fully onsite.
- Eager to learn, take ownership, and grow quickly in a small, fast-moving team.
- Fintech experience or interest
- Exposure to web3 frontend tooling — or genuine interest in learning it.
- Familiarity with Node.js / NestJS, or willingness to occasionally work across the stack.
- Experience with testing frameworks, CI, and modern build tooling.
- Side projects, open-source contributions, or a portfolio you are proud of.
- Base salary: USD $80,000- $120,000 depending on experience
- Long-term token incentive package.
- Unlimited PTO.
- Health & wellness reimbursements.
