Organic Social Media Manager
6 month Fixed Term Contract (This is a full-time contract position from mid-April - mid-October 2026)
Location: New York (In office 2 days per week, Wednesday and Thursday)
With millions of diners, 60,000+ restaurant partners and 25+ years of experience, OpenTable, part of Booking Holdings, Inc. (NASDAQ: BKNG), is an industry leader with a passion for helping restaurants thrive. Our world-class technology empowers restaurants to focus on what matters most – their team, their guests, and their bottom line – while enabling diners to discover and book the perfect restaurant for every occasion.
Every employee at OpenTable has a tangible impact on what we do and how we do it. You’ll also be part of a global team and its portfolio of metasearch brands. Hospitality is all about taking care of others, and it defines our culture.
The Role:
We’re looking for a creative, plugged-in, and detail-obsessed Social Media Marketing Manager to join our B2C Marketing team for a 6 month contract. In this role, you’ll own OpenTable’s organic social presence—shaping how we show up across platforms, tap into culture, and spark conversation.
The ideal candidate lives online and IRL at restaurants, stays ahead of trends before they hit peak saturation, and knows how to turn moments into content. You’re equal parts strategic and scrappy, deeply passionate about food, community, and storytelling, and excited to build meaningful connections through social. If your camera roll is full of restaurant photos and your FYP doubles as research on where you’ll be dining out next, this role is for you.
This is a full-time contract position from mid-April - mid-October 2026.
Key Responsibilities:
- Channel Ownership: Serve as the primary OpenTable “owner” of all organic social channels (Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, LinkedIn, and X).
- Social Strategy & Campaign Support: Partner with the broader B2C Marketing team and cross-functional stakeholders to develop and evolve OpenTable’s ongoing organic social strategy, ensuring alignment with brand priorities, major campaigns, launches, and seasonal moments.
- Planning & Process Management: Own the social content calendar in Monday.com and manage end-to-end workflows, approvals, and timelines.
- Content Ideation: Work with in-house creative team to brainstorm and create fresh assets (a mix of static, carousels, reels, and stories)
- Publishing: Own the publishing of all social content, maintaining a consistently high standard for quality, accuracy, and timeliness.
- Team Management: Manage and mentor two team members (Diner Marketing Specialists), overseeing workload prioritization, fostering skill development, and ensuring alignment with broader social and marketing goals.
- Collaboration & Local Integration: Work closely with account management and content teams to spotlight trending restaurants, events, and topics, and partner with local social teams to execute collaboration posts with Los Angeles, Chicago, and New York accounts.
- Reporting & Optimization: Own and analyze performance reporting to apply results to ongoing optimizations. Regularly monitor brand sentiment, competitor activity, and key social performance metrics to ensure progress.
- Influencer Management: Lead the ideation and briefing of influencer campaigns, source and vet creators for partnerships, and manage end-to-end communication with influencers and agencies to ensure seamless execution. Partner closely with legal and accounting teams on contract reviews and invoicing.
- Community Management: Monitor and engage across all social channels, including comments, DMs, tagged posts, and mentions, fostering an active and positive community of diners and restaurants.
- Crisis & Escalation Management: Partner with PR and Customer Support to manage sensitive moments or escalations on social platforms.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 4 years of professional experience in social media marketing; experience managing social for a B2C brand is a plus.
- Deep understanding of social platforms including but not limited to Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, X, YouTube, and LinkedIn.
- Experience developing platform-specific strategies rather than one-size-fits-all content.
- Data-driven mindset with experience in analytics, reporting, and performance optimization.
- Ability to translate performance data into clear takeaways and recommendations
- Strong content creation skills, with the ability to write engaging copy and produce visually compelling graphics and videos.
- Comfortable appearing in social video content when needed.
- Passion for restaurants and the hospitality industry.
- Creative self-starter who can work independently while managing multiple projects and deadlines.
- Excellent communicator and collaborator with strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Proficiency in design tools such as Figma, Canva, or Adobe Creative Suite, and video editing tools like CapCut or Premiere Pro.
- Experience in community management, social listening, or customer support is a plus.
- Highly tuned into cultural moments, platform trends, and topics that resonate with diners. Culturally fluent and able to identify moments where the brand can authentically participate in conversations.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a keen eye for detail
- Experience working closely with creative, PR, paid media, events, product marketing, and account management teams
- Comfortable collaborating with agencies, creators, and external partners.
- Strong understanding of brand voice and visual identity, with the ability to apply and evolve it consistently across platforms.
- Highly organized with strong project management skills; comfortable owning timelines from ideation through execution.
- Experience managing approvals, feedback loops, and stakeholder alignment in fast-paced environments.
- Ability to balance brand consistency with local relevance and cultural nuance.
There are a variety of factors that go into determining a salary range, including but not limited to external market benchmark data, geographic location, and years of experience sought/required. The salary range for this United States located role is $115,000 - $125,000 USD - this will be prorated for the duration of employment term.
Work Environment & Flexibility
At OpenTable, we pride ourselves on fostering a global and dynamic work environment. As a team member with us, you will benefit from a schedule tailored to accommodate a global workforce operating across multiple time zones. While the majority of your responsibilities may align with conventional business hours, there will be instances where you are expected to manage communications - via calls, Slack messages, or emails - outside of regular working hours to effectively collaborate with international colleagues, respond to restaurant partners, and/or address urgent matters. OpenTable will always abide by and consider local laws and regulations.
Inclusion
We’re committed to creating a workplace where everyone feels they belong and can thrive. We know the best ideas come when we bring different voices to the table, so we're building a team as dynamic as the diners and restaurants we serve—and fostering a culture where everyone feels welcome to be themselves.
