About Ad Hoc Labs

At Ad Hoc Labs, we build mobile apps for the future of productivity, privacy, and play. Our flagship app, Burner, is one of the top-grossing independent apps in the world, giving millions of people control over their phone privacy. We’re also building a culture of collaboration, learning, and growth for the business and our team. We value diversity, an entrepreneurial spirit, and trust in each other. We’re a remote-flexible organization with much of the team working in Pacific Time, but you can work wherever you’re most comfortable and productive.

About the Role

The primary goal of this role is to determine whether Meta can become a scalable and efficient acquisition channel for Burner. You'll own that question end-to-end — rapidly testing and iterating on both media strategy and creative, making clear decisions on what works and what doesn't, and defining a path to scale or confidently recommending against further investment.

This role sits at the intersection of media buying and creative strategy. You'll be as comfortable building and optimizing campaigns as you are developing creative concepts, writing briefs, and iterating on what's working. Meta is the primary focus today, with the opportunity to expand into TikTok and other paid social channels over time.

You'll work closely with Burner's User Acquisition lead and cross-functional partners across marketing and product.

What You’ll Do

    Paid Social Management
  • Own Burner's Meta Ads program end-to-end across mobile app and web campaigns

  • Quickly identify what's driving performance vs. not, and make clear calls on where to double down or pull back

  • Drive rapid testing cycles across both creative and campaign structure to improve CAC and conversion

  • Develop a clear point of view on Meta's role in Burner's acquisition mix — and how (or if) it should scale

  • Evaluate when and how to expand into new paid social channels (TikTok, etc.) as the program matures

  • Creative Strategy
  • Develop and own the creative testing roadmap — concepts, hooks, formats, copy variants, and visual approaches

  • Write creative briefs and partner with designers and video editors to produce high-performing ad creative

  • Analyze creative performance to identify what’s working, what’s fatiguing, and what to test next

  • Bring a strong point of view on what performs — informed by competitive awareness, platform trends, and direct response fundamentals

  • Reporting & Analytics
  • Own performance reporting for paid social — building and maintaining dashboards, weekly reports, and ad hoc analysis

  • Translate data into clear recommendations and next steps for the broader team

  • Process & Infrastructure
  • Build and maintain campaign launch workflows, naming conventions, creative testing processes, and performance alerting

  • Document institutional knowledge — playbooks, SOPs, and decision logs — so the team can scale beyond any one person

What We’re Looking For

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience managing and scaling paid social campaigns, with deep expertise in Meta Ads — experience with subscription-based or mobile app businesses strongly preferred

  • Proven success building, optimizing, and scaling campaigns against performance targets (CPA, ROAS, or similar)

  • Strong creative strategy chops — you can concept, brief, evaluate, and iterate on ad creative with a clear point of view on what drives performance

  • Experience running both mobile app and web campaigns

  • Comfort with data — able to work across dashboards, spreadsheets, and analytics tools to surface insights and drive decisions

  • Experience with mobile measurement platforms (Adjust, AppsFlyer, or similar)

  • A bias toward documentation — you write things down, build processes, and leave things better than you found them

  • Comfortable incorporating AI tools and workflows into creative production, reporting, and campaign operations — or a strong interest in doing so

  • Strong communicator who can operate autonomously while keeping stakeholders informed

Nice to Have

  • Experience with TikTok Ads or other emerging paid social platforms

  • Experience with web-to-app and web-based acquisition funnels

  • Experience with App Store Optimization (ASO) — keyword research, metadata testing, creative testing across Apple App Store and Google Play

  • Familiarity with measurement and attribution infrastructure — event taxonomy design, postback configuration, incrementality testing methodologies

  • Experience working with creators/influencers in a performance advertising context

  • Experience and familiarity with other paid acquisition channels and how they interact with or complement a paid social program

  • Background in mobile growth or app-first businesses

What Success Looks Like (First 60 - 90 days)

  • A clear understanding of what creative approaches drive performance

  • Measurable improvements in CAC or conversion rates — or a clear recommendation to shift investment

  • A defined strategy for scaling Meta, or a decision to deprioritize it

Ad Hoc Labs is a remote-first company. Select roles may require regional geography and/or frequent travel. All candidates need to be able to maintain a productive remote working environment with access to video-quality internet.

We are committed to building a diverse, inclusive company and we encourage applications from candidates of all backgrounds.
