Payment Partnerships Manager, US Debit

Adyen is looking for a Manager, US Debit & Banking Partnerships to advance Adyen’s strategy and agenda with our domestic US debit networks and key banking partners. You will also build and manage strategic partnerships for US-focused alternative payment methods related to bank account connections.

In this role, you will drive high-impact partnerships for Adyen and use your influence and leadership to build strong relationships across US debit schemes, financial institutions, and relevant technology partners. You’ll work closely with a broad range of cross-functional stakeholders to build strategic and successful relationships focused on the US market. This is a full-time position based in either our New York, Chicago, or San Francisco offices reporting to our Head of Payment Partnerships for North America.

What you’ll do

  • US Debit Network & Banking Management: Build and nurture deep relationships with major US debit networks and key US financial institutions, defining and executing a proactive partnership strategy focused on efficiencies and cost savings for our merchants.
  • Management of Bank-Enabled Payment Methods: Work with existing partners and build new partnerships with payment types heavily leveraging US bank accounts, such as Account-to-Account (A2A) payments, Real-Time Payments (RTP) initiatives, and relevant wallets.
  • Financial Performance & Optimization: Coordinate high-impact projects focused on routing optimization to achieve higher debit network performance and lower interchange costs, while managing commercial scalability and guiding optimal decision-making.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with product, commercial, and finance teams to define and execute go-to-market strategies and provide detailed US market and regulatory insights to accelerate product development and commercialization efforts.

Who you are

  • 5+ years relevant experience managing strategic partnerships in the payments industry.
  • Proven success in negotiating agreements with US debit networks (e.g., Pulse, Star, NYCE, etc.) or major US financial institutions.
  • Experience in both acquiring and/or issuing is strongly preferred.
  • Exceptional communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to influence both internal and external stakeholders across different functions and organizational levels.
  • A strategic mindset paired with the ability to make data-driven decisions and execute operationally.
  • Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.

Location & Work Expectations 

  • This role is based in New York.
  • Adyen values in-person collaboration, and we are an office-first company.
  • Some international travel will be required.

Compensation 

  • The base salary for this role in New York ranges from $169,000 to $220,000, plus RSUs.
