The Payroll Analyst supports payroll operations to ensure accurate, timely, and compliant processing across the organization. This role is responsible for managing the hourly employee payroll population across multiple entities in a multi-state environment and serving as backup support for the exempt payroll population as needed. Please note this is a full-time, temporary, 12-month position.
This position partners closely with the Payroll Manager, People Team, Finance, and external providers to deliver a seamless payroll experience while maintaining strong attention to compliance and detail.
- Payroll Operations & Processing
- Lead the end-to-end payroll processing for the hourly employee population across two U.S. entities.
- Validate timecards, overtime calculations, and applicable wage/hour rules.
- Ensure accurate processing of wages, bonuses, adjustments, and benefit deductions.
- Review payroll reports and perform detailed audits to identify and resolve discrepancies prior to finalization.
- Support payroll processing for exempt employees as backup coverage when needed.
- Assist with payroll reconciliations and support year-end activities (e.g., W-2 review and validation).
- Compliance & Tax Administration
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations impacting hourly employees.
- Support proper tax setup and maintenance under guidance of Payroll Manager.
- Assist in responding to payroll-related inquiries and documentation requests.
- Maintain accurate payroll records and audit documentation.
- Employee & Stakeholder Support
- Serve as a primary point of contact for hourly employee payroll inquiries.
- Address questions related to pay, time tracking, and overtime deductions.
- Partner with HR and Finance to ensure payroll data accuracy and alignment.
- Systems, Reporting & Vendor Management
- Utilize Workday and related systems to process and audit payroll data.
- Generate payroll reports for internal stakeholders as requested.
- Support data integrity initiatives and system updates under direction of Payroll Manager.
- Continuous Improvement & Projects
- Identify process improvement opportunities within payroll workflows.
- Support implementation of payroll process enhancements.
- Stay current on wage and hour regulations affecting multi-state hourly populations.
- Other projects as needed
- Strong knowledge of multi-state payroll processing, particularly wage and hour compliance.
- Experience managing hourly payroll populations with complex timekeeping.
- Strong analytical and reconciliation skills with high attention to detail.
- Proficiency in payroll systems and HRIS platforms (Workday preferred).
- Advanced Excel skills preferred.
- Strong communication skills and customer service mindset.
- Ability to manage confidential information with discretion.
- Minimum Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or related field preferred.
- Minimum Experience:
- 3–4 years of payroll processing experience, preferably supporting multi-state hourly populations.
- Experience in a multi-entity environment preferred.
- Location: Remote within the United States. This role requires 100% of work to be performed in a remote office environment.
- Travel: This is a remote position with less than 10% travel requirements. Occasional planned travel may be required as part of the role.
- Physical demands associated with this position Include: The ability to use keyboards and other computer equipment.
The expected pay range for this role is $32.00 - $41.00 USD per hour for full time team members.
