About Us

Dorsia is redefining how people access the world's most in-demand restaurants and experiences, fusing technology with luxury hospitality to give members access to the impossible, and giving operators the tools to match. We're a fast-growing startup backed by $50M+ from Index Ventures and partners including Major Food Group, Groot Hospitality, and Gracious Hospitality. We're building the team for our next phase of growth.

About the Role

Dorsia is seeking an Automation Engineer to sit at the intersection of product quality and operational intelligence. You will own two things that matter equally: ensuring our platform ships reliably through robust automated testing, and identifying the repetitive, manual, and error-prone workflows across the company that should no longer exist.

The ideal candidate is genuinely product-minded and comfortable operating across the full scope of a problem. You have a bias toward shipping, a low tolerance for toil, and a habit of asking whether something should be automated before accepting that it has to be done by hand.

What You'll Do

Product Quality and Test Automation

  • Design, implement, and maintain automated test suites across unit, integration, and end-to-end layers for our core products.
  • Own and evolve our test automation framework, including tools like Maestro, Playwright, Cypress, or equivalent API testing approaches.
  • Integrate automated tests into the CI/CD pipeline and keep the build signal clean and trustworthy.
  • Partner with Engineers and Product Managers to define and validate acceptance criteria for new features before they ship.
  • Monitor test runs for flakiness and failures, and drive improvements that fix them durably rather than paper over them.
  • Contribute to test strategy and coverage planning, with particular focus on high-risk and high-impact surfaces.

Internal Automation and Tooling

  • Proactively identify repetitive, manual, or error-prone workflows across the company, spanning engineering, ops, support, and GTM.
  • Design and implement automations using AI tools and LLMs for classification, summarization, routing, and generation; low/no-code platforms like Zapier, Make, n8n, or Retool; and lightweight Python or TypeScript scripts that connect systems together.
  • Use AI-assisted coding to prototype quickly, then harden promising prototypes into maintainable, observable production systems.
  • Integrate automations with the tools the team already relies on, including Slack, CRMs, ticketing systems, and internal APIs.
  • Work with stakeholders to map processes, define requirements, and iterate toward solutions that actually get used.

Reliability, Observability, and Maintenance

  • Ensure automations and test systems are reliable, debuggable, and documented well enough that someone else can understand and fix them.
  • Implement monitoring and alerting for critical automations, covering error rates, latency, and failure notifications.
  • Own the full lifecycle of automations: from idea through prototype, production, iteration, and eventual deprecation.
  • Regularly review and prune unused, flaky, or low-value automations to keep the surface area manageable.

Collaboration and Culture

  • Work closely with product, engineering, and operations to prioritize what to automate based on actual impact.
  • Communicate tradeoffs clearly, build versus buy, and automation complexity versus benefit, without waiting to be asked.
  • Help establish an automation-first mindset across the team, encouraging others to think in terms of systems and reusable workflows.
  • Share knowledge through documentation and playbooks that are clear enough for non-engineers to follow and build on.

The Winning Recipe

  • Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
  • 3-5 years of experience in a QA automation, software engineering, or workflow automation role.
  • Strong hands-on experience with test automation frameworks such as Playwright, Cypress, Selenium, or equivalent.
  • Comfortable writing Python and TypeScript/JavaScript at a level that produces clean, maintainable, production-grade code.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and a track record of keeping build signals reliable.
  • Demonstrated ability to ship internal automations using low/no-code platforms, LLM-powered tooling, and scripting.
  • Solid understanding of APIs and how to connect systems that weren't designed to talk to each other.
  • Strong written communication, including documentation that is actually useful long after the sprint ends.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, complex environment involving cross-functional projects.
  • A genuine interest in the Dorsia product, the member experience, and what it means to build for hospitality at this level.

Strong plus: prior experience with reservation system integrations (SevenRooms, Resy, OpenTable), dining payments infrastructure, or luxury/membership consumer apps.

Workplace Philosophy at Dorsia

At Dorsia, we believe that culture eats strategy. The best ideas in the world mean nothing without the right people around the table and the right chemistry between them. We are, unapologetically, a people-first organization.

In-Person Matters

We’re creating once-in-a-lifetime experiences for the most discerning audience in the world. That doesn’t happen over Zoom. It happens through collisions: a spark across a desk, a kitchen-side conversation that unlocks a partnership, the energy of ideas felt, not typed. That’s why in-office culture is non-negotiable at Dorsia.

Who We Hire

We don’t subscribe to check-the-box hiring. We hire for merit and mindset, which naturally creates a team with varied backgrounds. What unites us isn’t demographics, it’s a shared vision: to build the social operating system for the cultural vanguard.

Lifestyle Hours

We’re not a 9-to-5 company. Our lifestyle mirrors our members. Early flights, after-work events, and late-night sprints when the work demands it. But we love what we do, and we definitely love a good party.

High Performance Culture

Working at Dorsia isn’t for everyone—and that’s the point. Our culture is designed for builders, not passengers. We move fast, set ambitious standards, and expect people to rise to them. If you have the talent and the drive, this will be a ride to remember.

A Final Word

We’re building something special. It will take long hours and relentless effort. It’s not for everyone. For those with the metabolism, you’ll create something that changes how culture is lived. And that’s the kind of work worth your life’s energy.
