We’re hiring a Platform Engineering Lead to join our Product & Tech team at EMARKETER.

The Role and Team:

The Platform Engineering Lead is a hands-on technical leader responsible for shaping the reliability, scalability, and developer experience of EMARKETER’s platform infrastructure. This role combines engineering leadership with deep technical expertise to ensure our systems enable developers to build and ship products efficiently and securely. You will lead platform initiatives across infrastructure automation, observability, and cloud reliability while mentoring engineers and partnering with teams across the organization.

This is a hybrid role based out of our New York City office, with regular in-office expectations.

Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States without the need for visa sponsorship, now or in the future. Candidates must be within commuting distance of our New York City office. Relocation assistance is not available.

The Ideal Candidate Is:
  • A Player-Coach Leader: Comfortable mentoring engineers while remaining deeply involved in hands-on infrastructure and platform engineering work.
  • A Platform Architect: Experienced designing scalable, reliable infrastructure and modern developer platforms that support high-performing engineering teams.
  • Operationally Focused: Passionate about reliability, automation, and observability, and committed to improving system health and operational excellence.
  • A Cross-Functional Collaborator: Works effectively with engineering, product, and leadership teams to align platform strategy with company goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and mentor a small Platform Engineering team, supporting career development and technical growth.
  • Define and execute the platform engineering roadmap to improve reliability, scalability, and developer productivity.
  • Partner with engineering leadership to establish standards for infrastructure, system design, and operational excellence.
  • Design and implement Infrastructure-as-Code solutions and CI/CD pipelines that enable secure, repeatable deployments.
  • Drive improvements to observability through metrics, logging, and tracing systems.
  • Champion Site Reliability Engineering practices including SLOs, incident response, and continuous improvement.
  • Lead platform-level incident response processes, root cause analysis, and operational improvements.

Desired Skills & Experience:

  • 6+ years of experience in Platform Engineering, DevOps, or Infrastructure Engineering, with experience designing and operating cloud-based infrastructure.
  • Experience mentoring or leading engineers in a collaborative engineering organization.
  • Strong experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
  • Experience building or managing containerized infrastructure using Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Expertise implementing Infrastructure-as-Code solutions using tools such as Terraform, Ansible, or Pulumi.
  • Experience with observability tools such as Datadog, Grafana, or Prometheus.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.

Salary & Benefits:

  • Base salary: $166,000-$176,000 (dependent on skills, experience, and competencies)

Salary for the role is commensurate with experience and depends on a number of factors, including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies and experience.
