About 25madison

25madison is a NYC-based investment firm focused on applying transformative AI technologies to legacy industries. Our strategies include incubation, early-stage venture capital and lower-middle market private equity.

Our team comes from a diverse set of backgrounds, including 0-to-1 startups, growth-stage companies, scaled enterprises, VC and PE funds and more. We share a common background as builders and operators with a drive to help build generational companies. Our in-house platform team spans product design and development, engineering and data science, business development, marketing, legal, finance, and more.

Platform Operations and Community Manager

We're looking for an experienced HR and operations professional to be the operational backbone across the 25madison platform. In this unique role, you won't just support one company — you'll own the people operations, employee relations, and PEO management for our internal team while also supporting payroll and benefits needs for newly launched incubations. You’ll also play a critical role in building and nurturing the network at the heart of the 25madison platform – founders in our portfolio, investors, advisors and our broader ecosystem. You’ll be the connective tissue between the people who make up our internal and external communities, and the systems, processes, programming and content that keep them engaged and operating seamlessly.

This is a hybrid role: part HR generalist, part operator, part community builder, and part systems-builder, sitting at the intersection of 25madison’s infrastructure team, the firm’s studio and investment teams, and our broader ecosystem. This role requires a highly detail-oriented professional with excellent written and verbal communication, strong project management skills, a desire to bring people together, and the ability to take initiative and work independently on platform operations improvement projects.

What You'll Do:

HR Operations

  • Own the full employee lifecycle for 25madison’s internal team: oUer letter, onboarding/oUboarding, change in status, exit processes, performance review cycles, benefits administration, payroll coordination, and PEO management, coordinating with Legal and Finance when needed.
  • Maintain and update core HR policies (e.g., Handbook, PTO, leave, infosec) and ensure compliance with employment law across applicable jurisdictions.
  • Serve as the first point of contact for internal employee relations questions, escalating to leadership when needed.
  • Support early-stage HR needs for newly launched incubations, including execution of employment and contractor agreements, benefits enrollment, and payroll setup.
  • Serve as go-to resource for portfolio company teams on HR ops needs (e.g., onboarding/offboarding processes, benefits & payroll setup, vendor selection).
  • Continuously improve HR processes for scale – documentation, automation and self-serve resources for founders and employees alike.

Platform and Community Operations

  • Portfolio community building: Support the design and execution of programming that connects founders across our portfolio — peer groups, Slack communities, dinners, and topic-specific events (fundraising, hiring, GTM, etc.).
  • Content and communications: Own internal and external community communications — quarterly newsletters, social media, portfolio spotlights — that keep the community informed and engaged between events.
  • Relationship mapping and matchmaking: Know the portfolio and ecosystem well enough to make proactive introductions — connecting a founder with a peer who's solved the same problem, an advisor with relevant expertise, or a candidate with an open portfolio role.
  • Talent and resource network: Build and maintain a roster of vetted service providers, investors, advisors, and potential hires that portfolio companies can tap into.
  • Special projects: Drive cross-functional initiatives (e.g., platform-wide policy rollouts, tooling migrations, process improvements), including scoping, stakeholder engagement and execution.
  • Problem-solving on demand: Serve as go-to resource for internal team and portfolio company founders for all operational questions – from a payroll/benefits hiccup, to a resource question to “how do we even do this.”

About You:

  • 4+ years in general operations, People ops, or related relationship/community-oriented role — startup, venture studio, or investment firm experience a plus
  • Strong working knowledge of PEO (i.e., Justworks) and other relevant HRIS platforms
  • Solid working knowledge of core HR operations and employment compliance (multi-state and multi-country a plus)
  • Demonstrated ability to build processes and systems from scratch, not just execute existing ones
  • A builder's mindset: comfortable creating order out of a fast-moving, multi-entity environment and comfort with ambiguity and context-switching
  • Strong project management skills — you can juggle multiple workstreams across different entities without dropping balls
  • Excellent communication skills — you'll be translating between 25madison leadership, founders, and ecosystem stakeholders regularly
