Fundamental Equities               

Fundamental Equities (FE) sits within BlackRock’s Portfolio Management Group (PMG). The business provides a global investment platform offering BlackRock clients a comprehensive range of actively managed, high conviction equity strategies.

FE’s global hybrid research model emphasizes the strength of an independent team approach with the benefits of platform-wide collaboration and connectivity. Company-level engagement and rigorous research underpin our investment teams’ deep domain expertise and lead to high conviction portfolios that aim to generate alpha for our clients.

Fundamental Equity Core Portfolio Manager

This is an Associate Core Portfolio Manager role directly supporting the US team within BlackRock’s Fundamental Equity business. Based in New York, we’re seeking an energetic, high-performing candidate with a strong focus on investment workflows and control aspects of the investment process. The ideal candidate will thrive in a demanding environment, adeptly handling both daily market-sensitive tasks and broader project goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop a deep understanding of various team’s Investment processes, vehicles and markets.

  • Implementation of equity, derivative & FX orders across a range of active strategies partnering with global trading desks to target efficient execution.

  • Proactively monitor funds to ensure effective investment strategy implementation and optimize team governance and controls.

  • Leverage strong financial market, Aladdin applications/APIs and technical skills to evolve processes and implement robust and efficient solutions.

  • Interact daily with key BlackRock stakeholders including portfolio managers, product strategists, global trading, client businesses and operational support teams.

Skills/Competencies   

  • Ability to communicate well and work both independently, and collaboratively as part of a global team across multiple time zones.

  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills. Must be able to manage and prioritize a wide variety of concurrent and competing projects.

  • Presence, maturity and credibility to effectively represent the view of portfolio managers with wider stakeholders.

  • Solutions-oriented mindset with a high level of self-motivation, ownership, & initiative.

Knowledge/Experience

  • 2-4 years’ experience in a finance or technology role, with a degree in business/finance/computing/financial engineering a strong advantage.

  • Passion for and strong knowledge of global equity markets

  • Proficient in Python (data analysis, automation, API integration), including experience with version control systems like ADO/GitHub.

  • Knowledge of data structures and databases, including SQL, with ability to design and manage efficient data pipelines.

  • Familiarity with data visualization and reporting tools (e.g. Power BI) to translate complex datasets.

  • Interest in applying emerging technologies including AI tools/agents to enhance productivity, insight generation, and scalability.

For New York, NY Only the salary range for this position is USD$116,000.00 - USD$155,000.00 . Additionally, employees are eligible for an annual discretionary bonus, and benefits including healthcare, leave benefits, and retirement benefits. BlackRock operates a pay-for-performance compensation philosophy and your total compensation may vary based on role, location, and firm, department and individual performance.

Our hybrid work model

Some business groups may require more time in the office due to their roles and responsibilities.
