As a Portfolio Overlay Consultant, you will be integral to the success of key initiatives owned by the Growth Initiatives team as we establish or deepen partnerships that bring new solutions to both individual and institutional markets. This role will be a hybrid sales and support role, uncovering opportunities for Portfolio Overlays with advisors across all channels, while partnering closely with internal partners to deliver exceptional service. The Portfolio Overlay Consultant role will report to the Head of Future Growth Distribution and be responsible for driving sales across the retail wealth management space. 

What you’ll do 

  • Provide guidance and sales support for wealth management advisors to incorporate Portfolio Overlays and other insurance backed strategies in their practice 

  • Advisor Coverage: 

o    Independent RIA’s that support retail clients 

o    Advisory focused Broker Dealer affiliated advisors for Portfolio

Overlays and other insurance backed solutions. 

  • Products Supported:

o    Insurance Overlays (Retail) 

o    Fee-Based Annuities (Retail) 

  • Deliver industry-leading sales support for advisors within our chosen distribution partners - Including product training & education, needs assessment, solution alignment and case management support 

  • Demonstrate a deep acumen in the retirement marketplace including competitive solutions, platform landscape and overall trends to serve as a consultative partner to advisors 

  • Demonstrate an expertise in wealthtech technology solutions including financial planning platforms, middleware and asset management platforms 

  • Be a vocal leader who brings the outside in. Make it a daily priority to bolster and enhance the learning agenda of the Retirement Strategies organization. Encourage actionable feedback from advisors, clients and fintech partners and ensure it is being heard. 

  • Partner with product, service, marketing and distribution to optimize the experience for advisors doing business. Build effective internal relationships to support external needs. Find process improvements and opportunities for greater efficiency.  

What you’ll need 

  • CFP or RICP Preferred 

  • FINRA Series 6, 63 (or 7, 66) and State Insurance license required 

  • Deep knowledge of industry technology platforms such as financial planning, asset management 

  • Ability to facilitate consultative sales process, understanding customer needs and broader landscape of solutions to serve as a valued product and not solely product provider. 

  • Adaptability to quickly pivot between different types of firms (BD vs RIA), as well as platform partners. Ability to cater messaging and approach to different relationship structures 

  • Proficiency in using analytics, CRM and BI tools to target sales opportunities, track results and adjust in-market.  

  • 10+ Years of Wealth Management Expertise, preferably with advisory and fee-based experience as well.
