Part-time PR Consultant responsible for securing earned media placements, pitching wellness and lifestyle press, managing product sampling, developing editorial calendars, supporting founder bylines and awards, tracking PR performance, and identifying disease-claim risks. The role requires strong consumer PR experience, media relationships, personalized pitch writing, and knowledge of FDA and DSHEA structure-function claim rules.
Apothékary is looking for a part time PR consultant to help with earned media placements related to hero products, new launches, thought leadership, and preparation for holiday gift guides and "best of " lists.
- Objectives: Deliver one major placement per month tied to brand story, founder (Shizu), or a hero product (Blue Burn, Wine Down, Take the Edge Off)
- Weekly pitching cadence - target 5 personalized pitches to a curated media list each week (not mass blasts)
- Manage weekly product sampling/mailers to press, podcast hosts, and media-adjacent tastemakers
- Build and maintain an editorial calendar around seasonal wellness moments (Dry January, New Year resets, summer wellness, holiday gifting)
- Maintain and grow relationships with tier-1/tier-2 wellness, lifestyle, and beauty press
- Source founder byline opportunities, award submissions, and "best of" roundup placements
- Monthly reporting: placements secured, impressions/UVM, sentiment, share of voice vs. competitors
- Flag any coverage or quotes that risk disease-claim language before it runs
- Reporting on misses, not just wins. Pitches sent, response rate, reasons for passes.
- Package every placement for reuse: pull quote, logo asset, and link delivered to the content team within 48 hours for site press bar, paid whitelisting, and creator briefs
Requirements
- 3–5+ years consumer PR with a proven earned-media portfolio (not just agency management), ideally in wellness/beauty/CPG or supplements
- Active, current relationships with tier-1/tier-2 wellness/lifestyle/beauty press, podcast hosts, and "best of"/gift guide/awards cycles
- Strong personalized pitch writing, editorial calendar planning, and founder byline development
- Working knowledge of FDA/DSHEA structure-function claim rules, with ability to flag disease-claim risk in coverage before it runs
- Remote work opportunity, but LA or NYC based (or strong LA/NYC media relationships) preferred
Benefits
- Monthly retainer $3,000
- Monthly product stipend
