Serve as the technical bridge between GenLogs' data platform and customers: discover high-value use cases, communicate capabilities, build rapid prototypes/POCs (SQL, Snowflake, Python/Streamlit), translate requirements, and guide engineering/data teams to production while traveling to customers ~1-2 times/month.
The summary above was generated by AI

GenLogs is building the freight intelligence platform for the $1T+ ground freight industry. Using a nationwide network of roadside sensors, cameras, and satellites — combined with commercial and open-source datasets — we capture real-time, empirical observations of commercial truck and trailer movement across the U.S. Where the industry has historically relied on self-reported data and infrequent inspections, GenLogs delivers ground truth.

That dataset powers a range of high-stakes workflows: brokers and shippers source and vet capacity, insurers underwrite and investigate against real movement patterns, and carriers and agencies fight the ~$35B in annual cargo theft and freight fraud. We're a fast-moving, well-funded company (most recently a $60M Series B) with deep roots in intelligence and tracking, and we're just getting started.

ABOUT THE JOB

The Principal Data Solutions Architect is the bridge between what GenLogs' data can do and the problems our customers most need solved. You'll spend your time in front of our highest-value current and prospective customers, uncovering their biggest pain points, communicating the "art of the possible" with GenLogs' capabilities, and rapidly translating that into proof-of-concept solutions and recommendations that unlock real value.

This is a role for someone who is equally comfortable dissecting a Snowflake schema and standing in front of a room of underwriters or brokerage leaders telling a compelling, concrete story. You'll operate as a trusted technical expert in the sales and customer journey, and as the connective tissue that carries customer reality back to our internal data science, engineering, and product teams — making sure what we build is what the market actually demands.

You'll need strong initiative: much of the value in this role comes from becoming deeply, intimately familiar with our data environment, core capabilities, and constraints faster than anyone expects, so you can innovate with confidence and credibility.

What You'll Do

Communicate the art of the possible

  • Clearly articulate GenLogs' core capabilities so customers can extract optimal value from the platform and data.
  • Compile and share relevant, concrete examples and demonstrations tailored to each customer's context and industry (brokerage, insurance, carrier, government).
  • Use storytelling to simplify complex data capabilities — walking listeners through specific examples intuitively and connecting them to broader capabilities and business impact.

Discover and diagnose customer problems

  • Meet with high-value current and prospective customers (roughly 1–2 trips per month) to share Genlogs foundational data initiatives and current-state capabilities.
  • Lead discovery on the highest-value use cases, uncovering the biggest problems and pain points, and gathering actionable feedback.
  • Field detailed technical questions in real time, serving as the technical expert in the sales process and reacting on the fly with ideas that steer conversations toward value.

Synthesize and build solutions

  • Combine deep knowledge of GenLogs data with an intuitive sense for business context to identify the most valuable problems and prioritize accordingly.
  • Rapidly innovate and develop proof-of-concept solutions to demonstrate value and validate direction.
  • Develop technical requirements, build working prototypes, and partner with internal data scientists and engineers to turn POCs into robust, scalable, production solutions.
  • Guide the work of technical teams and help stand up new, innovative capabilities.

Serve as connective tissue

  • Channel customer feedback back into the organization to inform technical development approach and priorities.
  • Act as a strong internal advocate for customer value, ensuring internal focus is aligned with real marketplace demand.
  • Partner cross-functionally with product, engineering, data science, sales, and leadership to close the loop between the field and the roadmap.

Own your ramp

  • Show strong initiative to become fully acclimated across the data environment and intimately familiar with GenLogs' core capabilities and constraints.
  • Build and maintain a reusable library of demos, examples, reference solutions, and narratives that scale your impact and the broader team's.
What You'll Bring
  • Proven experience translating between technical depth and business value — you can go deep on data and architecture, then zoom out to the "so what" for a business audience.
  • Excellent communication and storytelling skills — the ability to simplify complexity, connect examples to impact, and hold the room with both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Hands-on data fluency: strong SQL, comfort working directly in a modern cloud data warehouse (Snowflake or equivalent), and the ability to explore, model, and reason through large, complex datasets independently.
  • Ability to rapidly build prototypes and data applications (e.g., Python and app frameworks such as Streamlit, or comparable tooling) to demonstrate concepts quickly.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop technical requirements and guide technical teams from concept through to a working, scalable solution.
  • Strong initiative and self-direction; comfort operating with ambiguity in a fast-moving environment.
  • Willingness and ability to travel to customers roughly 1-2 times per month.
Nice to Haves
  • Prior consulting or professional services background.
  • Direct, confident customer-facing experience, ideally as a solutions architect, sales engineer, or technical expert in a sales cycle.
  • Domain experience in freight, logistics, supply chain, transportation, or insurance/underwriting.
  • Familiarity with fraud, risk, or anomaly-detection use cases.
  • Experience feeding customer insight into product roadmaps and prioritization.
What Success Looks Like (First 6–12 Months)
  • You've become the go-to internal expert on what GenLogs' data can and can't do, and the trusted external face in high-value customer conversations.
  • You've run discovery across a set of priority accounts and translated it into a clear, prioritized view of the highest-value use cases.
  • You've shipped multiple POCs that demonstrably moved deals forward or expanded existing accounts.
  • Customer feedback you've surfaced is measurably shaping the product and data roadmap.
