What the Principal Market Analyst does at Worldwide

Reporting to the Chief Commercial Officer, the Principal Market Analyst and Corporate Strategy is responsible for tracking and analyzing key performance indicators related to the health of the commercial organization. In addition, this role is responsible for the continual assessment of Worldwide Clinical Trials’ core therapeutic markets and for providing data and analysis to drive decisions related to new markets.

What you will do

  • Lead business analytics for the commercial organization, including tracking pipeline, hit rate, win rate, repeat and new business, and average deal size

  • Track and manage margin analysis of awarded work to support decision-making regarding pricing of new business

  • Assess and deploy new tools and technologies to support the commercial organization (e.g., MatchMyEmail)

  • Oversee the evolution, management, and implementation of Salesforce

  • Act as a key partner to the Chief Commercial Officer in the development of global sales targets (both bottom-up and top-down)

  • Conduct continual review and assessment of market trends, including planned and predicted trials, trial starts, and funding markets

  • Liaise with other market analysts (e.g., Jefferies) to stay abreast of market trends affecting corporate growth

  • Provide market analysis presentations to internal stakeholders

  • Support the commercial team with bid defense preparation related to market competition for clinical trials

  • Collaborate with all functional areas on key performance indicators (KPIs) and analytic dashboards required in Power BI

  • Partner with Strategic Finance to evaluate commercial trends related to win rates and margin

What your bring to the role

  • Strong business acumen with demonstrated experience leading and supporting initiatives

  • Demonstrated experience with business case development and strategic thinking

  • Proven ability to influence across a matrix-managed environment

  • Experience developing content for capabilities overviews

  • Demonstrated experience with KPIs, preferably in sales

  • Ability to meet deadlines and flexibility to work outside of normal working hours

  • Customer-oriented mindset

  • Strong communication skills, including the ability to articulate effectively via phone and in writing with a high degree of professionalism

  • Metrics-driven and goal-oriented with strong attention to detail

  • Strong networking skills and ability to build rapport

  • Flexibility and ability to adapt quickly to new demands with a strong sense of urgency

  • Demonstrated project management experience

  • Experience presenting to senior leadership

  • Experience researching and providing industry and customer intelligence from key sources, specifically BioPharm Insight

Your experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business; Master of Business Administration (MBA) required

  • Prior experience in Business Development Operations

  • Minimum of 15 years of relevant analysis experience

  • Minimum of 10 years of direct experience within the Contract Research Organization (CRO) or pharmaceutical industry

  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)

  • Promotion to the next level is not automatic based on years of experience. Personnel are evaluated on proven competency, level of responsibility, and ability to work independently.

The salary range for this position is annually (For hourly paid positions, the stated salary range reflects hourly rates):


United States of America - $146,500.00 - $291,500.00


The salary range provided is intended to give candidates an understanding of potential earnings. Compensation will fall within the provided range, and it not a guarantee of exact salary. The final salary will be determined based on relevant experience, performance, education, and internal equity. In addition to base salary, we offer a competitive benefits package depending on location. We ensure pay equity and transparency and comply with all applicable labor laws. Salary information will be discussed during the interview process, and we encourage candidates to inquire about compensation at any stage.
