An overview of this role

As the Principal Product Marketing Manager for GitLab's DevOps solution set, you'll shape how we tell the story of our intelligent orchestration platform that turns fragmented toolchains into unified, end-to-end workflows. You'll own the narrative for how teams move from disparate tools and manual handoffs to a shared source of truth that keeps developers, platform engineers, and operators in continuous flow across the software development lifecycle. You'll influence positioning, messaging, proof points, packaging, and go-to-market plans so they resonate with platform engineering leaders, DevOps directors, site reliability engineers, and technology executives. You'll operate with a high degree of autonomy. You'll partner closely with Product Management, Engineering, Sales, Customer Success, and Marketing to drive revenue growth through new SKUs and monetization strategies, strengthen GitLab's DevOps platform narrative in the market, and guide customers through their DevOps modernization journeys. In your first year, you'll refine our DevOps value proposition and segmentation and launch strategic new offerings. You'll translate customer and analyst insights into clear messaging and repeatable sales motions and help platform teams see GitLab as the foundation for intelligent orchestration. You'll turn market feedback and usage data into clearer positioning, packaging, and enablement that accelerates adoption of GitLab as the complete DevOps platform of choice.

Some examples of our projects:

  • Developing and launching new SKUs and monetization strategies for GitLab's DevOps platform capabilities.
  • Creating persona-based messaging and enablement for platform engineering leaders, DevOps directors, and technology executives.
What you'll do
  • Lead the positioning, narrative, and go-to-market strategy for GitLab's DevOps solution set, emphasizing how our intelligent orchestration platform replaces fragmented toolchains and manual handoffs with unified, end-to-end workflows.
  • Drive new SKU development and monetization strategies for DevOps capabilities, working cross-functionally to identify market opportunities, define packaging, establish pricing frameworks, and build business cases that demonstrate clear ROI and competitive differentiation.
  • Build and continuously refine compelling positioning and messaging for GitLab's DevOps offerings, including persona-specific content for platform engineering leaders, DevOps directors, technology executives, and developer teams, clearly articulating the value of a single source of truth across the software development lifecycle.
  • Define and execute comprehensive go-to-market plans for new SKUs, packaging innovations, and existing DevOps capabilities, ensuring launches are timely, impactful, and tightly aligned with sales, field marketing, and digital marketing motions while delivering measurable pipeline and revenue impact.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert for DevOps and intelligent orchestration within Product Marketing, synthesizing analyst feedback, market trends, competitive insights, and customer proof points into differentiated narratives that highlight GitLab's architectural advantages over fragmented toolchains and point solutions.
  • Create and maintain high-impact sales enablement materials such as pitches, playbooks, FAQs, objection-handling guides, pricing and packaging comparison guides, and business value / total cost of ownership assets that help scale DevOps-focused sales motions and accelerate deal velocity.
  • Establish and expand GitLab's external thought leadership in DevOps modernization by supporting and driving speaking engagements, content programs, and other opportunities that reinforce GitLab's position as the intelligent orchestration platform where teams stay in flow.
  • Coach and mentor other Product Marketing Managers, driving cross-functional collaboration and process improvements that elevate Product Marketing's impact on GitLab's overall objectives and key results, especially in the areas of SKU strategy, packaging innovation, and DevOps go-to-market execution.
What you'll bring
  • Extensive product marketing experience owning complex, technical B2B SaaS products from discovery through launch, with proven success in new SKU development, packaging innovation, and monetization strategy for DevOps or adjacent platform offerings.
  • Deep understanding of DevOps workflows, CI/CD pipelines, platform engineering, and the software development lifecycle, with practical exposure to capabilities such as source control, continuous integration, artifact management, deployment automation, and infrastructure as code.
  • Proven experience positioning platform solutions that consolidate fragmented toolchains, with the ability to articulate the architectural advantages of unified DevOps platforms over point solutions and product collections.
  • Experience working with large B2B customers and enterprise platform teams, translating their infrastructure, workflow, and operational needs into clear positioning, differentiated messaging, and scalable go-to-market strategies that support revenue growth.
  • Ability to synthesize qualitative feedback, product usage data, win/loss analysis, and market research into clear, actionable messaging frameworks, segmentation, SKU strategies, and revenue plays.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex DevOps concepts, platform architectures, and intelligent orchestration to both technical and non-technical audiences through presentations, content, and enablement materials.
  • Familiarity with Agile, DevOps, and platform engineering practices across the software development lifecycle, enabling you to connect GitLab's intelligent orchestration capabilities to customer use cases and build compelling value propositions around eliminating manual handoffs and maintaining continuous flow state.
  • Openness to learning, with transferable skills from related areas such as AI-powered automation, cloud-native infrastructure, or platform engineering, and a self-directed approach to staying current on industry trends.
About the team

The Core Platform Product Marketing team leads the go-to-market strategy, positioning, and messaging for GitLab's intelligent DevSecOps platform, with a specific focus on how we enable unified DevOps workflows and intelligent orchestration. You'll join a highly collaborative group of experienced product marketers who partner closely with Product Management, Engineering, Sales, Customer Success, and Field Marketing to tell a cohesive DevOps story that resonates with platform engineering leaders, DevOps directors, and technology executives. As a Principal Product Marketing Manager, DevOps, you'll operate as a senior leader in how we position and grow GitLab's DevOps solution set, especially around new SKUs and packaging. As a Principal Product Marketing Manager, DevOps, you'll mentor other Product Marketing Managers and help shape how we bring new DevOps capabilities, offerings, and monetization strategies to market.

The broader team works in an all-remote, asynchronous way across regions and embraces GitLab's values of transparency, iteration, and trusted empowerment. You'll collaborate with peers focused on different parts of the platform to align messaging, coordinate launches, and build integrated campaigns that support our customers' DevOps and platform engineering modernization journeys. Current focus areas include strengthening GitLab's platform and DevOps narrative across the software development lifecycle and deepening our thought leadership with analysts and industry stakeholders. We're also evolving our enablement programs so sales and customer-facing teams can clearly explain the value of GitLab's intelligent orchestration platform. You'll work with peers across solution areas to share best practices, coordinate priorities, and learn from each other's launches. As a team, we're focused on how we support sales and customer-facing teams, how we measure the impact of our work on pipeline and revenue, and how we collaborate.
