As a Principal Systems Performance Engineer, you will play a critical role in shaping how Micron's SSD and memory products perform in hyperscale data centers. This is a senior individual contributor role for an engineer who enjoys building robust modeling tools, working directly with server platforms, and influencing product and architecture decisions with data-driven analysis. $157,000.00 - $334,000.00 a year

Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain system- and data center-scale performance and power models for Micron SSD and DRAM products
- Build reusable software tools and analysis frameworks that integrate benchmark data, workload traces, and field telemetry
- Analyze AI training, inference, and data-intensive workloads to identify bottlenecks and optimization opportunities across compute, memory, storage, and interconnects
- Evaluate current and emerging server and data center architectures, including CPUs, GPUs, DDR5, HBM, CXL, NVMe, and network fabrics
- Translate modeling results into clear architectural trade-offs and recommendations for engineering, product, and business stakeholders
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field, or equivalent practical experience
- 10+ years of industry experience in systems performance, architecture, or workload engineering
- Strong hands-on software development experience in Python, C/C++, or similar languages
- Direct experience working with server hardware and data center platforms
- Proven experience building performance and/or power models using empirical measurement data
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's degree or PhD in a relevant technical field
- Experience working at or with hyperscale data center operators
- Background in SSD or DRAM product engineering or performance characterization
- Experience with power modeling at the server, rack, or facility level
- Familiarity with QEMU, PCIe/DMA and memory systems, and transaction-level simulators such as SST or Simics
