About the Position

We are looking for a Procurement Specialist to help source IT hardware across our offices, data centers, and colocations in the Americas. This will include servers, networking, storage, and desktop-related equipment. In addition to sourcing the equipment, you’ll be intricately involved in raising purchase orders and coordinating logistics.

As you manage the process of buying hardware for Jane Street, you’ll collaborate with external vendors and colleagues from our Data Center, Networking, IT, and Procurement teams. Clear communication will be needed as you deliver information and manage expectations for each request.

When a purchase request is made, you’ll enter it into our procurement system, obtain requests for quotes (RFQs), negotiate with vendors, and provide stakeholders with a summary of buying options (i.e., price, availability, lead time, etc.). When it’s time to buy, you’ll place the order and track the shipment to make sure it’s delivered on time. You’ll also review invoices for accuracy and request corrections if needed. Your ability to take initiative, follow up, and close the loop on all purchases and discrepancies will be critical to your success in this role.

About You
  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, IT, engineering, or related technical field
  • 3+ years of relevant professional experience
  • Strong background in Excel, knowledge of RFQ and ordering processes, and experience negotiating with suppliers
  • Highly detail-oriented and organized
  • Excellent communicator; describes detailed problems with brevity and accuracy
  • Self-starter who can manage several deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Team player who enjoys collaborating with others
