Overview of Position
The State Filing Compliance Analyst plays a critical role in safeguarding Assurant’s regulatory posture by overseeing state insurance filing activities. This position serves as a key link between regulatory requirements and business execution, ensuring products remain compliant, market‑ready, and aligned with evolving regulatory expectations.
What will my duties and responsibilities be in this job?
Provide regulatory oversight by reviewing state insurance requirements and assessing their impact on existing products.
Draft, review and revise policy forms to ensure compliance with state specific filing and regulatory requirements.
Partner with cross‑functional stakeholders (Business, Legal, Actuarial, Underwriting, Operations, and Claims) to translate regulatory requirements into compliant product solutions.
Manage the filing to support timely product approvals and minimize regulatory and operational risk.
Serve as a primary point of contact with State Insurance Departments, proactively addressing questions, objections, and conditions to facilitate approvals.
Ensure regulatory decisions, approvals, and exemptions are well documented, defensible, and auditable.
Maintain governance over filing documentation, approvals, and regulatory records to support audit readiness and transparency.
Ensure Assurant products and filings are aligned with applicable regulatory frameworks and corporate compliance standards.
Provide direction and oversight for the preparation and submission of state compliance filings, ensuring consistency, quality, and regulatory alignment.
Evaluate filing obligations and determine when exemptions apply, preparing documented assessments and recommendations for management approval.
Support corporate governance activities, including company registration renewals and annual rate filings.
Contribute to regulatory risk mitigation efforts by supporting market conduct exams, litigation discovery, audits, and ad‑hoc regulatory inquiries.
Ensure state‑driven deadlines and regulatory commitments are met to avoid compliance gaps or enforcement exposure.
Oversee preparation and submission of filings through SERFF and alternative channels where required, ensuring completeness and accuracy.
Coordinate filing fee payments and required certifications to ensure submissions are accepted and processed without delay.
Ensure internal systems (e.g., OSX and State Filings Systems) accurately reflect filing status, approvals, and distributions.
Facilitate timely communication of regulatory approvals and requirements to impacted business and operational teams.
What are the requirements needed for this position?
Associates degree
2 years’ experience in the Property and Casualty insurance industry
What other skills/experience would be helpful to have?
Paralegal or Insurance designation a plus
Strong written, drafting and editing, and grammatical skills, including accuracy and attention to detail.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
Ability to work with ambiguity and frequently changing priorities.
Time management skills and the ability to effectively prioritize work to accomplish assigned duties by set deadlines.
Strong data entry skills
A Working knowledge of insurance terminology and the ability to research industry regulation.
Willingness to learn new things and take on-the-job training courses or external insurance courses to broaden knowledge and skillset.
Knowledge of SERFF and/or experience in submitting State filings
Ability to balance compliance with Business and Company strategies and directives.
Support Assurant goals: think beyond current role and think like a customer.
Make sound business decisions by gathering data and taking action in a decisive and timely manner.
Strong interpersonal skills to effectively interact with internal employees, State Regulators and external representatives. Collaborate and form relationships to achieve Business goals and seek perspective from others to create new solutions.
Possess or quickly develop knowledge of assigned Company products. Demonstrate an understanding of the role by delivering our purpose and living our brand through providing and maintaining compliant Company products.
Proficiency or ability to quickly develop proficiency with consumer and home warranty service contract regulation and product development

Pay Range:
$56,200.00 - $94,100.00Any posted pay range considers a wide range of compensation factors, including candidate background, experience and work location, while also allowing for salary growth within the position.
