About the Role

GlossGenius is looking for a strategic and experienced Product Counsel to lead the product counsel and privacy functions within GlossGenius’ Legal Department. You will be a founding member of the growing in-house Legal team and will be responsible for designing and implementing the Legal team’s engagement model with the Product and Engineering teams. You will not only identify, analyze and mitigate legal risk, but you will be a pivotal member of the organization with an opportunity to define the long-term success of our product. You will have the support of Corporate Counsel and a Legal Operations Manager in-house, as well as resources to engage best-in-class outside counsel as appropriate and required. 

 You must be commutable to our NYC headquarters and will operate in a hybrid environment with 2 days per week in the office (Tuesdays & Thursdays).

What You’ll Do

• Provide advice to the Product and Engineering teams on legal and compliance requirements that affect GlossGenius and its customers, including those related to data privacy, TCPA, HIPAA, artificial intelligence, and other consumer protection laws
• Partner with Product leadership to develop best-in-class methods for legal and privacy review of the product development process
• Lead GlossGenius’ privacy compliance program, working closely with the Security team on shared goals and objectives
• Collaborate with the Marketing team to ensure compliance with relevant marketing and advertising regulations
• Draft, maintain and update internal policies and procedures, including building out contractual and procedural playbooks for privacy inquiries
• Prepare and deliver legal and compliance training for GlossGenius’ employees and executive leadership, as needed
• Effectively and cost-efficiently manage relationships with outside counsel
• Partner with corporate counsel and outside counsel on other projects as appropriate

What We’re Looking For

• JD and a member of a relevant U.S. state bar (California, Washington, Florida, New York) in good standing
• 5+ years relevant experience counseling technology product teams, with high-growth private company experience preferred - ability to bring best in class practices to the GlossGenius Legal Team
• Excellent analytical and legal skills, with track record of analyzing legal and regulatory requirements and effectively translating to technical requirements
• A team player: willingness to roll up your sleeves, with no task too big or too small across your projects
• Excellent prioritization and consensus building skills; ability to effectively manage and communicate regulatory risks in the context of business priorities
• High integrity and excellent judgement
• CIPP qualification and/or direct experience with HIPAA and payments regulation a plus

The starting base salary for this role in New York, California, and Washington is between $190,000 and $250,000 + target equity + benefits. The base salary offered is dependent upon many factors including skills, experience, location, and education. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. Additionally, this role is currently eligible to participate in GlossGenius’ equity plan as well as a range of health & wellbeing, retirement savings, and other benefits within our total rewards offering.
