Since launching in April 2019, we have built a portfolio of over $1.5 billion in world-class artworks, introducing over 1,000,000 individuals to the $1.7 trillion art market.

Masterworks has been covered by major media publications such as The New York Times, CNBC, The Wall Street Journal, and the Financial Times, and was recently recognized as one of the Top 50 Startups in the US by LinkedIn.

Why Masterworks?

  • Do you thrive on disruption?
  • Do you want to work at the cutting edge of finance, technology, and art?
  • Are you passionate about democratizing alternative investments?
  • Do you enjoy meaningful work that has a noticeable impact on business performance?

If you answered "Yes" to any of the above, we'd love to hear from you!

The Engagement

We are seeking a talented and motivated Product Designer for a part-time contract engagement (approximately 20 hours/week), playing a key role in shaping Masterworks' investing platform. This is primarily a product design engagement, focused on designing user-centric features, flows, and interfaces for our web and mobile applications.

A smaller, but meaningful, portion of the work will involve supporting our marketing team by designing content-driven investor communications, such as branded emails and campaign assets.

Scope of Work

  • Lead the design of web and product experiences from concept through implementation.
  • Create responsive, pixel-perfect designs in Figma (flows, wireframes, visual design, prototyping).
  • Build and code responsive marketing emails using HTML/CSS, ensuring cross-client rendering and mobile optimization.
  • Collaborate with product managers, marketers, and stakeholders in an agile, fast-paced environment.
  • Uphold visual consistency across product and marketing assets through thoughtful layout, typography, and interaction design.
  • Continuously test and refine designs, simplifying complex concepts into intuitive, elegant experiences.

Requirements

  • A strong online portfolio of example web projects you've led in a hands-on capacity — candidates without one will not be considered.
  • 3–6+ years of design experience in product-driven companies or fintech.
  • Proficiency with design and prototyping tools (Figma, Adobe Creative Suite, etc.).
  • Understanding of the formal elements of design, including UI, UX, layout, and typography.
  • Experience working in agile, cross-functional teams.
  • Detail-oriented with a sharp eye for implementation quality.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to simplify complex concepts visually.
  • Strong proficiency in HTML/CSS, particularly for responsive email design and cross-client compatibility.
  • Availability for approximately 15 hours/week, with ability to manage deliverables independently against agreed timelines.

Engagement Details

This is a part-time contract (1099) engagement, not eligible for Masterworks' employee benefits program.

How does Masterworks think about compensation?

The rate for this engagement is $75–$95/hour, based on approximately 15 hours/week. Specific compensation will depend on factors such as experience, qualifications, and alignment with market data for contract work of similar scope. Contract terms, duration, and hours will be outlined in the engagement agreement.
