As a Product Designer II, you'll design complex workflows and interfaces for insurance programs, collaborating closely with engineers and product leadership. You'll take ownership of design processes from ideation to implementation, focusing on user interaction and maintaining a high standard of visual quality.
The summary above was generated by AI

Authentic helps insurance brokers create better insurance products for their clients. We provide the technology platform and behind-the-scenes support that lets brokers build custom insurance solutions for specific industries or customer groups. Think of us as the operating system that powers these specialized insurance offerings. For brokers, this means they can offer unique products their competitors don't have, earn more money, and spend less time on paperwork and administrative tasks. We handle the complex (technology, compliance, and partnerships with highly-rated insurance carriers), so they can focus on serving their customers and growing their business.

The role

This is a craft-forward, high-ownership role. You'll design the workflows that operators, underwriters, and brokers use every single day to run real insurance programs. These are dense, consequential systems where clarity and interaction depth directly affect business outcomes.

You'll work directly with engineering and product leadership. You'll own problems end-to-end, from ambiguous brief to shipped feature. And you'll help raise the quality bar for everything we build.

Responsibilities:

  • Design complex, multi-state workflows across underwriting, distribution, compliance, and operations
  • Think deeply about interaction — states, transitions, error handling, edge cases, progressive disclosure, system feedback
  • Produce high-fidelity UI with strong visual craft: typography, hierarchy, density, and restraint
  • Build and refine prototypes in close collaboration with engineering — and stay engaged through implementation
  • Contribute to and actively evolve our design system
  • Participate in problem framing, not just problem solving — help define what we should build and why

This is not a role where you'll be handed PRDs and asked to wireframe. You'll be expected to shape the thinking.

Requirements:

  • 3–5 years of product design experience, ideally on workflow-heavy, data-rich, or B2B products
  • A portfolio that demonstrates:
    • Sophisticated interaction thinking — flows with real depth, not happy-path-only
    • Strong visual craft and an eye for quality at the component and system level
    • Clear articulation of decisions, tradeoffs, and constraints
    • Evidence you've worked within or contributed to a design system
  • Deep fluency in Figma — components, variables, auto layout, advanced prototyping
  • High agency: you ask sharp questions, push back when something doesn't make sense, and drive your work to completion
  • Comfort operating in ambiguity at a fast-moving startup

Nice to haves:

  • Experience designing fintech, insurtech, enterprise, or ops-heavy products
  • Product and business intuition — you think in outcomes, not just interfaces
  • Experience partnering closely with engineers during implementation, not just handing off
  • Opinions about what separates good interaction design from great interaction design

A lot of design jobs at this experience level put you in a queue. You execute tasks, present to stakeholders, and ship incrementally. This isn't that. At Authentic, you'll own meaningful product surface area with real stakes. You'll design infrastructure — the kind of software people rely on to do their jobs, not browse or scroll. Your work will directly affect how fast we grow, how well our partners operate, and what kind of company we become. You will be one of the earliest designers on the team, which means you'll have genuine influence over process, culture, and craft — not just your own work.

Our (FTE) benefits

  • Competitive salary, equity, and role trajectory
  • Comprehensive health benefits for you and your family
  • 401(k) plan with company match
  • Unlimited PTO
  • Paid parental leave
