Accompany Health is on a mission to give patients with complex needs the dignified, high-quality care they deserve but rarely receive. A primary, behavioral, and social care provider, Accompany Health walks alongside patients for their entire care journey, offering at-home and virtual care, as well as 24/7 support. Partnering with innovative payors, Accompany Health is powered by remarkable care teams, elegant technology, and a commitment to evidence-based practice.

We build long-term relationships with our patients so they know, without question, that our team is here for them day or night, year after year. We focus on the health outcomes most important to our patients to make it clear that they lead the way.

To achieve our mission, we collaborate with community-based organizations, local providers, and health plans. Led by our empathetic care teams, guided by proven care models, and powered by our own technology, we deliver a level of service that our communities rightfully deserve but rarely receive.

While our headquarters is in Bethesda, MD, our teams are distributed across the country.  If you’re eager to make a tangible difference in people’s lives, to help correct long-standing disparities in health care, join us.

About the role:

We’re looking for a Product & Experience Designer with a demonstrated ability to navigate ambiguity in a fast-paced startup environment, shape products and experiences from discovery through delivery, and embraces ai-enabled ways of working. You’ll work across the end-to-end experience from user research to product and service design to brand experiences, crafting experiences that improve healthcare access and delivery for populations with high healthcare needs.

As part of a small, highly collaborative and distributed design team, you’ll have broad ownership and influence. One day you may facilitate a clinician research session, the next refine a complex workflow, evolve our design system, or create branded assets for a marketing campaign. You’ll work closely with talented product, data science, engineering, marketing, and clinical operations teams.
This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a generalist role, while upholding a bar for craft and systems thinking.

Responsibilities will include:

    Product Design
  • Lead end-to-end design for product initiatives from discovery through launch across web and mobile platforms
  • Translate user and business problems into clear, intuitive workflows and interfaces
  • Create interactive prototypes and polished visual designs
  • Partner with cross-functional stakeholders including Product, Engineering, and Operations to balance user needs, technical constraints, and business goals
  • Conduct interviews and usability testing to evaluate design decisions
  • Experience & Service Design

  • Map end-to-end user experiences, identifying friction points across digital products and workflows
  • Facilitate cross-functional workshops to uncover opportunities for improvement
  • Design solutions that enhance both user experience and operational efficiency
  • Brand & Marketing Design

  • Support engagement campaigns and key initiatives through marketing and visual design
  • Maintain cohesion across product experiences and brand expression
  • Contribute to evolving the visual identity as the company scales
  • Design Systems & Implementation
  • Contribute to developing and maintaining shared design patterns and components
  • Work with engineering to ensure consistency and scalability
  • Champion accessibility and usability best practices
  • AI-Enabled Design

  • Leverage AI tools to rapidly explore concepts, generate design alternatives, and iterate more efficiently
  • Work with engineering to integrate AI-assisted workflows that accelerate design-to-production
  • Evaluate and adopt emerging AI tools that enhance design quality and team productivity
  • Share learnings and best practices as AI tooling evolves
  • Collaboration & Communication

  • Own design decisions and articulate rationale based on research and data
  • Educate stakeholders on design approach and tradeoffs
  • Communicate clearly across product, engineering, operations, and leadership

What makes you a fit for the team:

  • You approach your work with humility, recognizing that our system of care will need to learn and adapt to the needs of patients with complex needs
  • You show deep empathy for the needs of patients, clinicians, support staff, and your colleagues to change the fundamental paradigm of care delivery for marginalized patients
  • You have a distinctive ability to get a highly cross-functional group of stakeholders – technical and non-technical – on the same page
  • Your curiosity drives you to be an expert of your product or products and you strive to elevate your peers and the company as a learning organization
  • You come to well-informed opinions based on gathering the right information and data – but are open to changing your perspective when the situation evolves or new facts emerge
  • You focus on getting things done in the most effective, efficient manner for the task at hand – rather than following a specific process for its own sake
  • You have the resilience to dive headfirst into challenging problems – healthcare is complicated and there’s a lot to be fixed
  • You are excited to work in a startup environment, with the ambiguity and shifting priorities that come with it

Desired skills and experience:

    Required:
  • 3-5 years experience in design
  • Extremely clear communicator – verbally & in writing
  • Experience contributing to a cohesive experience across multiple products
  • Comfort in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with multiple stakeholders
  • Proficiency in using design tools (Figma, Adobe CC)
  • Experience building detailed and precise design artifacts (flows, journey maps, wireframes, mockups, related documentation)
  • Ability to develop and understand distinct user personas and distill complex needs into clean, understandable solutions
  • Preferred:
  • Design experience in context of healthcare delivery
  • A high emphasis on designing with accessibility and health equity in mind
  • Experience designing, maintaining and implementing design systems.
  • Experience iterating on shipped products based on user feedback and analytics data
  • A degree in Interaction Design, Digital Graphic Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Digital Product Design, Human Factors is preferred.
