Overview of the Product Manager, Tax Reporting

BetaNXT Maxit is a leading provider of Cost Basis Reporting and Tax Reporting solutions. We are seeking a Product Manager to provide tax reporting subject matter expertise and translate reporting rules into regulatory compliant product requirements. The ideal candidate is comfortable with deep technical analysis of new regulation, hands-on delivery in an agile environment, and direct client engagement. This role reports to the Head of Tax Product.

Duties and Responsibilities of the Product Manager, Tax Reporting:

  • Monitor and interpret evolving US, foreign, and state tax legislation to communicate impact on current and future products.
  • Define product vision and contribute to the Maxit tax reporting roadmap; support system development and remediation initiatives to ensure regulatory compliance and process improvement.
  • Analyze complex regulatory and business issues to design and document product solutions, including BRDs, use cases, workflows, and gap analyses.
  • Develop and maintain deep expertise in cost basis and informational reporting across forms 1099, 1042-S, 480.6, Security Master, Income Reclassification, UIT, and WHFIT.
  • Work closely with development teams in an agile environment to drive high-quality, iterative delivery of features to production.
  • Drive business testing and validation of use cases; support the QA process through to product release.
  • Own the product side of annual tax season execution — coordinating across engineering, operations, and clients to ensure accurate, on-time IRS filings.
  • Advise on US and non-US information reporting and withholding matters, including FATCA.
  • Build and maintain positive client relationships; manage client-specific change requests and support Client Services on complex tax reporting issues.
  • Assist in product feature definition for sales and marketing; work with the Project Office to track milestones and manage delivery expectations.

 Skills and Experience of the Product Manager, Tax Reporting:

  • Minimum 6 to 8 years of relevant experience; hands-on experience with cost basis and tax reporting analysis required.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent required; MS/MBA in taxation preferred.
  • Prior experience at or supporting firms providing tax reporting infrastructure to broker-dealers, custodians, or wealth managers.
  • Extensive knowledge of IRS information reporting requirements, including electronic filings, corrections, B-notices, and calculation of basis, gains, and losses across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Detailed knowledge of tax withholding and reporting for securities including mutual funds, stocks, bonds, and corporate actions.
  • FATCA knowledge/experience.
  • Understanding of specialized calculations and statements for UIT, REMIC, WHFIT and income reclassification highly desirable
  • Solid understanding of product lifecycle management and agile methodologies.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills; ability to work independently and structure complex problems clearly.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Visio, PowerPoint), Jira, Confluence.

 Compensation:

  • We offer a competitive compensation package commensurate with experience and market location including full benefits offering and PTO. Minimum salary of $125,000 plus bonus opportunities and other incentives.
