The Opportunity

Since 2005, MDCalc has been an essential part of the clinician’s workflow to help achieve better patient outcomes. Actively used by more than 65% of physicians worldwide, MDCalc is the most broadly used medical reference – at the point-of-care – for clinical decision tools and content, and one of only four references used by >50% of US HCPs. These evidence-based tools and content are used by millions of medical professionals globally and support 50+ specialties and cover 200+ patient conditions.

To continue accelerating this growth, we are expanding our User Product team with a Product Analyst who will drive meaningful improvements to how clinicians find, use, and return to MDCalc. This is an exceptional opportunity for a builder who is energized by user behavior, structured experimentation, and creating real clinical utility at scale.

The Role

This is a project-focused product role embedded in our user product team. You will own discrete initiatives end to end, from discovery through launch and iteration, with a clear focus on improving how clinicians find, use, and return to MDCalc.

You will work closely with Engineering, Design, and Data to translate user insights and business goals into shipped products. This role is ideal for a Product Analyst who is energized by understanding user behavior, running structured experiments, and building features that create real clinical utility.

The responsibilities of this individual include the following, but are not limited to:

  • Own a portfolio of projects aimed at improving activation, retention, and personalization across the MDCalc platform

  • Drive each project from problem definition through scoping, delivery, and post-launch measurement

  • Identify engagement gaps using qualitative research, behavioral data, and competitive benchmarking

  • Build and iterate on onboarding experiences that help new users quickly understand MDCalc's value and establish return habits

  • Define success metrics and work with Data to instrument and evaluate activation flows

  • Own projects that increase return visit frequency and surface relevant tools to the right users at the right moments

  • Partner with Engineering and Data on personalization capabilities — favorites, recents, specialty-based recommendations, and similar patterns

  • Write clear product requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria that Engineering and Design can build to

  • Lead cross-functional execution across active projects, managing scope, timelines, and dependencies

  • Use data to identify issues post-launch, measure outcomes, and drive continuous improvement

Your Background
  • 3+ years of product analyst experience, with at least one role focused on consumer or professional end-user products

  • Startup experience strongly preferred, particularly in 0→1 environments where you helped build products, processes, or systems from the ground up

  • Builder mentality with comfort operating in ambiguity, moving quickly, and taking full accountability for outcomes rather than simply shipping requirements

  • Demonstrated ability to own projects end to end - from discovery and definition through launch and measurement

  • Comfort with engagement metrics: retention curves, activation funnels, session depth, return visit rate, and similar

  • Strong written communication skills across requirements, specs, and stakeholder updates

  • Experience working cross-functionally with Engineering, Design, and Data teams

  • Healthcare, clinical, or professional tool experience a plus but not required

  • Familiarity with experimentation and A/B testing frameworks

Nice to Have
  • Experience with tools such as Linear, Notion, Snowflake, Fullstory, or Metabase

  • Exposure to personalization systems or recommendation logic

What MDCalc offers:
  • Ability to make a true difference in medicine: MDCalc is the most broadly used medical reference used by 65% of physicians worldwide.

  • Medical, Dental, & Vision coverage, with option to extend to your dependents

  • Company-sponsored short-term insurance

  • Fully-paid 8 week parental leave, after 6 months of employment

  • Company-sponsored 401k, after 3 months of employment

  • Unlimited vacation for salaried roles - we trust you to take the time you need

  • Tri-annual company offsites to connect, reflect, and plan together

  • Work from home monthly stipend

  • Hybrid work environment with a great team office in Greenwich Village, NYC

  • A culture of fun and motivated team members who believe in a greater mission here at MDCalc
