About the Team:
LINQ builds software that helps K–12 districts manage complex operational, financial, and compliance needs. This role sits on the LINQ ERP product team within the broader Product organization and reports directly to the Director of Product. The ERP product team owns a shared, cloud-based platform and is composed of multiple product managers, each responsible for specific functional areas and working closely together to deliver a cohesive ERP experience.
About the Role
As a Product Manager for the HR & Payroll module within LINQ ERP, you will own a critical, highly regulated area of our SaaS ERP platform. This role is responsible for ensuring payroll, HR, and compliance-related functionality meets customer needs, regulatory requirements, and internal quality standards. You’ll work closely with engineering, QA, UX, and cross-functional partners to define priorities, translate complex requirements into clear product direction, and deliver improvements that are reliable, usable, and scalable.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Own the product lifecycle for HR & Payroll features from discovery through release and ongoing iteration.
- Gather, analyze, and document requirements by working closely with customers, internal stakeholders, and subject-matter experts.
- Translate business, regulatory, and user needs into clear epics, features, user stories, and acceptance criteria.
- Prioritize and manage the product backlog across multiple work types, including enhancements, defects, technical improvements, and compliance-driven work.
- Lead backlog grooming, sprint planning, and other core agile ceremonies in partnership with engineering and QA.
- Serve as the voice of the customer and subject-matter expert for HR & Payroll, maintaining a deep understanding of customer workflows, pain points, and regulatory constraints.
- Collaborate closely within the LINQ ERP Product Team, partnering with other ERP product managers responsible for Finance, Core ERP, and State Reporting Compliance (SRC) to ensure alignment across shared platform capabilities, dependencies, and release planning.
- Coordinate across ERP teams to manage cross-module workflows, shared data models, platform changes, and customer impact, balancing local module priorities with overall ERP health and consistency.
- Collaborate daily with Engineering, QA, UX, Support, Client Success, Implementation, Sales, and other product teams to ensure shared understanding and successful delivery.
- Support roadmap planning by identifying near-term priorities and longer-term opportunities aligned to customer needs and business goals.
- Identify risks, dependencies, and tradeoffs early; communicate impacts and options clearly to stakeholders.
- Participate in user acceptance testing and support release readiness, including documentation and internal enablement.
- Incorporate user research, usability feedback, support trends, and market insights into product decisions.
- Monitor the competitive landscape and industry trends related to HR, payroll, and compliance to inform product strategy.
- Document product functionality and workflows to support internal teams and improve shared understanding.
What We Are Looking For:
We are looking for an experienced Product Manager who has worked on large, complex products, ideally within highly regulated domains such as payroll, HR, finance, or compliance. You are comfortable operating in ambiguity, managing competing priorities, and balancing customer needs with technical and regulatory constraints. You have experience working closely with engineering teams, running effective agile ceremonies, and turning complex problems into clear, actionable requirements.
What Will Make You Stand Out:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 2–5 years of product management experience working on complex business applications, or equivalent practical experience.
- Experience with HR, payroll, financial systems, or other highly regulated software; EdTech experience is a plus.
- Experience managing web-based applications and complex back-office systems.
- Strong understanding of the product management lifecycle and agile development practices.
- Proven ability to gather and synthesize business requirements and translate them into effective product solutions.
- Experience creating and maintaining product roadmaps and communicating priorities and changes to stakeholders.
- Experience using data, metrics, and qualitative insights to inform decisions and validate assumptions.
- Familiarity with requirements modeling techniques such as process flows, use cases, or workflow diagrams.
- Experience defining and tracking OKRs or similar goal frameworks to align product work with business objectives.
