Background

Pitch Labs, a 501(c)3 non-profit, works to inspire, educate, and mentor aspiring high school entrepreneurs to build their first business. Obtaining knowledge to be a successful business founder can be financially costly and energy-draining. Our 100% volunteer-run nonprofit offers aspiring high school entrepreneurs free access to our mentor-matching program, entrepreneurship support community, and resource library. We strive to create a world where anyone can be an entrepreneur.

What We Need

We have a vision, we have a platform, but we need events to connect everyone together. Business reaches every single industry and profession in the world, and that means there are an infinite amount of questions to answer and lessons to teach. As a Product Owner, you will work closely with cross-functional teams, including leadership, product development, marketing, sales, and user support, to drive the product roadmap and bring new Pitch Labs features to market.

How this Role ties into Our Mission:

Enabling young entrepreneurs is an essential part of our mission at Pitch Labs. As a Product Owner you will be supporting not only the internal stakeholders but also the customers to drive the most important features for the organization. Agility is the cornerstone of our organization and this product owner will enable the development team to work efficiently and effectively by prioritizing the highest value features for the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Requirement Gathering: Engage with a diverse range of stakeholders, including sales, customer support, and end-users, to gather and prioritize product and customer needs.

  • Backlog Management: Strategically plan and prioritize the product feature backlog, development tasks, stories, epics, and themes to ensure the product delivers maximum value. Ensure alignment with the organization’s mission and long-term product strategy.

  • Product Development: Partner closely with the software engineering team to iteratively develop and refine new features and products. Emphasize quick learning cycles to adapt and respond to the evolving needs of Pitch Labs.

  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Foster collaboration across marketing, sales, and customer success teams to ensure financial and customer satisfaction goals are met, with a focus on maximizing the impact on internal and external stakeholders.

  • Continuous Improvement: Continuously collect, analyze, and act on product feedback from multiple sources, including direct user input. Use insights to drive product improvements that support the growth and success of Pitch Labs customers.

Qualifications

  • Experience: At least 2 years of experience with SaaS or cloud products as a Product Owner or Product Manager.

  • Agile Methodology: In-depth knowledge of Agile processes and principles.

  • Product Delivery: Proven track record of delivering products from the ground up.

  • Communication Skills: Outstanding communication, planning, and organizational skills, with strong attention to detail.

  • Analytical: Analytical and data-driven, able to extract meaningful insights to make informed product decisions.

  • Problem-Solving: Excellent problem-solving skills with an ability to find process efficiencies.

  • Collaborative style with a preference to lead with influence.

  • Entrepreneurial enthusiasm and grit, always willing to roll up your sleeves.

  • Adaptability: Thrive in a dynamic environment, ideally having experience in a rapidly growing company.

  • MUST be based in the US.

Benefits: Advanced Google Workspace and Canva features, the flexibility of working remotely, coaching/Q&A sessions with industry experts, resume coaching and guidance, public recognition of outstanding work on our social platforms, internal networking, and more!

Time Commitment: THIS IS AN UNPAID, REMOTE #WFH VOLUNTEER POSITION.

Although this is a volunteer role, given our startup-like functioning, we only seek active volunteers who are energized, ready to engage and make an impact.

Please be prepared to contribute at least 5 hours a week for at least the next 6 months. As we invest heavily in training each volunteer, we humbly request that if you are unable to meet this time commitment, that you do not proceed with our application further. All volunteers must attend their department’s team meeting or 1-1 meeting every week. We enforce a 24 hour response policy to promote a smooth workflow and mindfulness towards ongoing projects/deadlines that team members are working on.

We are able to accommodate volunteers who need time off for exams, work, family events, etc., as long as these commitments are appropriately conveyed as soon as possible.
