Own Payments & Accounts product for a programmable bank: design and ship the global payment stack (US rails, SWIFT, SEPA, FPS), programmable accounts (DDAs, FBOs, virtual accounts), and APIs. Work with engineering, design, and customers to define roadmap, unblock delivery, scale deposits and payments, and build platform features that differentiate Augustus in regulated, stablecoin-native clearing.
The summary above was generated by AI

Few people get to build a bank from scratch. Even fewer get to build one at a moment when banking itself is being reinvented.

The dollar is the best product in the history of the world, with practically infinite global demand, but distribution is broken. Global clearing runs on legacy banks that are closed 115 days a year, built for humans and take two days to settle. Augustus is the update to the internet era. We received conditional approval from the OCC to charter America’s first stablecoin-native clearing bank that is always open, made for machines, at the speed of compute.

We are a group of operators, unicorn early employees, ex-founders and people who walked away from degrees because they believe this is an industry and career defining opportunity. We're backed with $40M from Peter Thiel’s Valar Ventures, Creandum and founders of Ramp, Deel and Circle.

We are regulated in Europe and live with Euro and Stablecoin clearing today. Now, we are building the US team from the ground up, while continuing to grow rapidly in Europe.

The Role

You own the heart of the programmable bank: Payments and Accounts. The full global payment stack - US rails (ACH, FedWire, FedNow), international Swift, European schemes (SEPA, SEPA Instant, FPS), and the programmable accounts layer: DDAs, FBOs, and virtual accounts. Each is both a technical layer and a commercial product.

The end state: enterprise customers plug into Augustus via API and move money anywhere in the world, instantly, 24/7. Your job is to challenge the status quo - to understand what's possible on these rails and push further. Every product you ship should offer our customers something they've never been able to get from a bank before.

You'll work on Marble, our proprietary bank core. Your product decisions directly shape what robust, scalable, and fast means in practice. You'll get deep into the use cases our customers are building: how a stablecoin operator structures flows, how an OTC desk runs settlement, how a correspondent bank thinks about reconciliation. That understanding lets you work with design and engineering to develop our platform to uniquely solve for our customers needs.

You report to Will, Head of Product, and work closely with Simon, our CTO. You're expected to operate with full autonomy on your team's roadmap.

Your First 6 Months

  • Months 1-2: You take over day-to-day ownership of your product team - the roadmap, the ways of working, the hard decisions. You establish yourself with customers and key partners, getting deep on what they're building and where we're falling short. You define and ship your first project.

  • Months 3-4: Full execution mode. You're unblocking engineering daily, making hard prioritisation calls, and keeping the roadmap moving. You're spending time with customers, feeding what you learn straight back into the product, and already shaping the mid- to long-term roadmap.

  • Months 5-6: You're working with live customers on the products you've built, and deposit and payment volumes are scaling. You've moved from execution to platform mode - evolving the roadmap based on what your first customers are actually building on top of Augustus, and pushing the product further than any of them expected a bank could go.

Who Will Thrive At Augustus

We believe throwing smart people with high agency at big problems produces the best outcomes. The people who succeed here share the following traits:

  • Relentless: You can't leave something broken. You don't stop because it got hard or because no one is watching.

  • Set the bar: You're harder on yourself than anyone else would be. You don't need external accountability to care about quality.

  • Shape the Game: You don't wait for a playbook and you don't need one. You walk into genuinely new territory and figure it out. You move before anyone asked you to.

  • Systems first: You don't solve problems by adding people or effort. You build systems that make the problem smaller. Your first instinct is to automate, not to handle it manually.

This role is for you if:

  • You want to spend time with customers and translate what you hear into actionable insights for your team and our entire product strategy.

  • Your ambition is to become the top 1% expert in global bank payments. You go deeper than anyone asks, you know exactly where the points of leverage are.

  • You combine first-principles thinking with deep domain knowledge to build things that don't exist yet. You find the intersection of technically possible and uniquely valuable - and bring it into reality.

  • You are excited about what the Programmable Bank can become and you're ready to be a meaningful part of building it. The magnitude of the opportunity doesn't intimidate you, it excites you.

  • You're confident delivering on company-critical projects alongside an engineering team.

  • You push the boundaries of what a PM can do by leveraging AI.

This is not for you if:

  • You're not working directly with customers as part of your day to day.

  • You think great products and fast shipping can't coexist in a regulatory environment.

  • You need clear scope and a settled product before you can do your best work.

Hard Requirements
  • 3+ years of experience end-to-end owning and building payments or banking products.

  • Technical enough to spar on architectural decisions with engineers.

  • Comfortable in customer-facing roles - you've pitched, demoed, and closed early adopters yourself.

  • Based in New York or Berlin - this is an in-person role.

Compensation packages at Augustus include base salary, equity, and benefits. New hire offers are made based on a candidate's experience, expertise and geographic location. The annual US base salary range for this role is $150,000-$200,000 + equity.

What We Offer

  • Network: Your peers are brilliant, highly motivated people. These people will be foundational in your future opportunities.

  • Real Participation: Employees are shareholders. You will think and act like an owner.

  • Perks & Benefits: Relocation support, visa support, the latest Apple gear (MacBook + AirPods), lunch benefit, gym benefit, a beautiful office in the heart of the city, 4x on-/offsites per year, and an annual development budget.

  • Health & Insurance: Our US team receives comprehensive Medical, Dental, and Vision insurance plans. We are offering 401(k) retirement plans.
