Bread is a technology company that aims to transform the way the world shops online. We build tools, technologies and APIs that allow e-commerce merchants to integrate installment loan financing and other alternative payment products anywhere in their customers’ shopping journey. Bread was started in 2015 by financial technology veterans, and has experienced explosive growth to date. We’re backed by top investors including Menlo Ventures, Bessemer Venture Partners, Kinnevik, among others.

Are you passionate about data? Are you someone who prides him or herself on your ability to use data to help shape decisions around business strategy, product design, and profitability? The Analytics team at Bread is tasked with making sense of Bread’s vast first and third party data and working closely with management stakeholders across Product, Finance, Engineering, and other departments to ensure that we are making the best data-backed decisions we possibly can. As a key member of our growing team, you will report directly to our Head of Analytics and work on some of the most exciting, cross-functional projects at Bread. This role will involve among other responsibilities: modeling new products and growth opportunities, deep-dive research into consumer conversion and repayment behavior, and revenue and profitability reporting. You will be the “data expert” in the room and a key partner to every business team at Bread. This will involve both ‘teaching them to fish’ through coaching, reporting, and self-service tools, as well as ‘fishing’ by providing your own analysis and insights. This will originally be an individual contributor role, however, there may be opportunities to manage other analysts as the team grows.

Your role at Bread:

  • Idea Generation: Analyzing both our B2B and B2C funnels, identifying weak points and brainstorming ways to improve UX, conversion, and profitability
  • Prioritization: Working with company leadership, including the C-suite, to identify the highest ROI projects
  • Research: Further Bread’s understanding of our business and customers by deep diving into Bread’s data, building predictive models, and writing research reports
  • Product Development and Testing: Collaborating with senior leadership across teams as a statistics expert on A/B tests
  • Reporting: Assist in building reporting and tooling for both internal and external stakeholders

What we are looking for:

Must Have:

  • 2-4 years of experience analyzing product or customer data at a software company
  • BA in a quantitative field: Stats, Finance, Economics, Math, or Computer Sciences are preferred
  • Fluency in SQL
  • Experience in at least one functional programming language, R or Python strongly preferred
  • A working knowledge of statistics, i.e. confidence intervals, linear regression, hypothesis testing
  • Experience with funnels and event tracking software, i.e. Heap or Mixpanel
  • Strong interpersonal skills

Nice to Have:

  • An advanced degree
  • Experience in financial services or credit
  • Experience with both B2B and B2C data
  • Experience with any of our specific analytics stack: Redshift, Postgres, Github, Heap, Looker, Zendesk, and Salesforce
  • Experience with survey data and software
  • Familiarity with an agile working environment

We love celebrating all that we can from our monthly happy hours, DI&B events to our summer/winter holiday parties. Our team is extremely thoughtful about how we gather together to ensure everyone is excited about and included in all we do. It fosters collaboration in a more strategic yet relaxed way which helps build relationships.

Head of Employee Engagement

What projects are you most excited about?

A typical day at Bread is different depending on the engineer. While some engineers enjoy more autonomy, I enjoy collaborating on projects with other engineers and coming up with great solutions together. We strike a balance between stability and innovation through code reviews and guest lectures. I feel supported in my career growth here at Bread.

Software Engineer

How does the company support your career growth?

Bread encourages us to empower ourselves from the very start of our careers by offering every employee a stipend to seek educational resources and support. If you envision a role we don’t currently offer, or aspire to transition internally, we aim to give you the tools needed to meet your goal.

Recruiting Coordinator

How do you collaborate with other teams in the company?

One of the great things about working at Bread is the cross-functional collaboration with other teams.
